  1. First off, wrong guy to call out....if you have seen anything he has worked on you would know that nothing he touches is any thing less than 100 x's the quality you would get from a "certified mechanic". He builds and advises on builds that are incredible. Second, the rich people comment was a joke....my four year old would have known that. I work very hard for what I have, and I CHOOSE to be financially wise with the hard earned money I make by fabbing my own stuff. You are more than welcome to spend thousands of dollars on your exhaust and i applaud you for doing it. Like I said before, the budget for my truck is not now or ever going to be(at least in the near future) in conflict with my household budget. My household budget does not permit me budgeting 2400-2600 minimum for ARH headers and a Corsa cat back. I started a thread on fabbing my own exhaust, I did not start a thread or ask you for your opinion regarding the brand or quality of said material. Should you feel the need to express your views on American Racing headers or Corsa, please use the search thread next time and chime in on a thread asking for these types of remarks. Danny joked with me about corsa because he knows me and knows I would have liked to have purchased that but cant afford it. You dont know me so unless it is with a light heart and in a joking manner, please take your comments elsewhere..... Canadian, I can only imagine the WOT is going to be really loud lol...I am almost positive I am gonna have to get a bullet at some point. Lol
  2. I actually thought abou doing that to my di/so flowmaster since that thing cost me 270 $ to have welded in, but I changed my mind when I started thinking going with the least amount of restriction I could get...
  3. Thanks guys....I thought I did my homework well and I am happy with what I have coming in! Canadian, I cant wait for the first start up, and can almost guarantee that it is going to drone lol...prolly gonna have to get a bullet, but I am happy that I found everything I need to get a good fit and finish.
  4. Lol...got two little ones myself, had to put my four year olds booster seat in the middle in the back seat and it did the same thing to me one night.....never put two and two together till now.
  5. Two kids, one still in diapers, wife doesnt work, dont have a silverado ss, and I rigged nothing, everything from the gm gaskets back are fit for my truck. I chose to run 1 3/4 primary stainless headers with. 3" stainless y pipe, a factory spec mandrel bent 3" intermediate pipe made to fit a143.5 in, wheelbase with a factory flange, not stainless but I really dont care, and a borla xr1 race pipe. The ONLY thing i am not happy with is i am going to run my stock tailpipe which WILL be remedied soon. I am overall very happy with my ability to, as you say, "rig" my entire exhaust, and at half the cost of a corsa cat back exhaust....because I have kids and a wife, i cant for the life of me fathom having 1000$ and spend it on just a catback and get absolutely NOTHING in return but sound because there are 2 different sized oem pipes, cats, and a log manifold sitting between that cat back and the motor . I can however try to make my dollar stretch the best I can and get good gains in return. I may be mistaken but this method has been at the heart of horsepower fans since the first cars rolled off the first assembly line. I have nothing against those that can afford 1500$ headers, 7000$ superchargers, 1000$ catbacks, and 3000$ wheels, and to be honest, I read on these builds and feel like that dazzled kid when I got my Countach poster to hang on my wall in the 80s, but at the end of the day I budget small things in when I can and budget big things in for my family. I am a fan at best, and a hobbyist at heart. Took a lot of planning to get what I ordered, and I am happy with it.........Just my .01 cent, that I could barely afford to give.
  6. Lol...and no hub connectors from lowes! Thas how 'Murcans do it
  7. I dont remember opening the door to the Rich folks....us poh boys gotta be more resourceful, neccesity is the mother of invention fellas
  8. Lol...i hear ya bud, it is a nice third
  9. No...i would have to pay twice what i paid for header back to get corsa cat back lol
  10. What kind of tails are they so i can google them and are you getting rid of the third light as well and if so what kind is it. I have stocks, i tinted the tails my self. Think my drivers side has a scuff on it, so i may have to break out the soapy water, fine grit, and elbow grease to get that in check but they came out really good....not perfect like a paint shop would get but, really shiny when clean, really transparent and plenty dark. Lot of people ask me where i bought them lol..i just took my time on them....wax and grease remover, initial sand, more wax and grease, applied 3 or four coats of vht as directed at specified intervals, waited the directed amount of time to start applying clear and put like 6 coats of clear, came back after 24 hours and wet sanded and wet sand and wet sanded lol....then used mcguires ultimate compound to shine em up...
  11. Well...for 650, I am gonna have everything to change my factory exhaust ( except the tailpipe, i will get the muffler shop to bend me one)...gaskets, clamps, lt's, y pipe, intermediate pipe, and a Borla XR-1 muffler.....being frugal paid off. Cant wait till it all gets in and i can get to work
  12. Good deal bud.....hope you can offload those lights quick like.. They are really nice man
  13. Well if it wasn't a money thing i would say i would trade you...i used vht on my tails and cleared the hell out of them and spent a lot of time wet-sanding and I have gotten a lot of compliments on them...cant stand seeing when people just spray vht on their tails without prepping them or clearing them and especially when they dont wet sand them. I actually didnt buy a really nice tagoe because of the terrible job they did blacking out the tails and bowties. I figured if they didnt care enough to make it look right they probably didnt care enough about anything else on it. Glws
  14. Welcome dude, relatively new myself.....all i can advise is to read through the threads for hours...you WILL find what you are looking for. Lot of amazing builds in here and plenty of discussions on Forced Induction. You definitely came to the right spot. Have fun reading, i have, and more importantly, have fun building!
  15. FWIW, called Walker Exhaust tech line, and finally got a part number for a 3" mandrel bent (aluminized, but oh well) intermediate pipe with oem style flange. If anybody finds this thread on google looking to convert their dual 6.0 exhaust to longtubes with a y pipe and si/so style exhaust and you have a crew cab......dynomax 55280 is the the one and it is around 55$ give or take depending on who u buy it from. I think you can actually order it through sears too which is kinda funny. This is for the penny pinchers like me that want to make a catback on a budget
  16. Good....now just gotta hope it doesnt drone like a sob
  17. Lol...i was gonna use band clamps for the header to y pipe and to assemble the y pipe....so i should lop off the 2 bolt at the back of the y pipe and replace it with flat 3 bolt to connect to my custom bad ass one off catback (lmao)? Danny you know i am out of town and we are in the wifes maxima so i cant see my truck right now, if i just buy a single 6ft long piece of 3" stainless pipe do you think that will be good enough to slap an aero turbine on and reach the factory tailpipe?
  18. Yea...that is the problem... dont have a factory y...I figured I would buy a 3 inch stainless pipe from parts house bout 6ft long and a v band flange from G.I.'s advice. Gonna buy an aero turbine muffler and take it the exhaust shop and let him weld all that up and just band clamp the muffler in place..I have to be able to take all this shit apart...I have had an exhaust completely welded and that will never happen again
  19. I loved my zeon ltz's....had them on my jeep commander, made it ride a million times better than the fallen ziex tires it had on it before. They improved handling, ride, and sound. Way quieter...
  20. Man, thats definitely a rough weekend. Lock everything up tight, file another police report, then go be with your family and tell some good stories about your grandpa. Let the police do their thing, try not to stress about the stolen stuff!
  21. Gotcha....may just bite the bullet and get the v band on the y pipe to catback connection....thank you
  22. What about cutting off the flange, then getting an exhaust shop to just flare the ss pipe to slip over it and using a stepped band clamp. The headers are coming with band clamps to hook the headers to y pipe and assemble the y pipes. I dont have access to a welding machine and dont have the skill to weld stainless even if i did.
  23. Really simple question. Buying CalSpeed headers with the y pipe. I am a cheap bastard on a budget so i refuse to pay for a damn catback lol. The y pipe has a flange to accept stock 5.3 intermediate pipe that has a two bolt flange constructed with a donut gasket looking metal hump. I just planned on going to oreillys and buying 6ft of stainless steel 3" pipe, the male flange, an aeroturbine and clamping it all to the stock 3" tailpipe that i already have dumped over the axle. Where the hell do i get that damn flange at? Looked into buying an intermediate pipe for 5.3 crew but there are so many options all different bends and little to no description of what size or application they are for. Getting frustrated. I want to order it all at once but i am getting hung up on that damn interpediate pipe
  24. I like this! Reminds me of plaques plastered on doors all over the plant i work at....Your lack of planning does not constitute an emergency on my part. Lol To the OP, I'm switching from the stock 6.0 dual setup to 3" lt collectors into 3" y pipe to single 3" back....magnaflow has a chart showing cubes vs piping, and single 3" is fine for a 364 up to over 500 horses, and it says a general rule of thumb you can increase the OEM size piping 1/4 to 1/2 for more power, but not to go bigger than that....i assume that is implying all things staying the same (other than the pipe size) though....you start putting a lot more power down and piping will have to get bigger at some point. Just dont go too big and slow down the gases..
