  1. Any guesstimates on how much better it would run after removing the cats? My crew cab has 3" all the way back to the di si out super40. It doesnt have a y pipe or anything. Would removing them help a lot for performance. One more thing, should i have tuner delete them before or is it alright if i run it to his shop after removing them, sometimes it is a little late before he has the time. And will make a drastic difference in sound, i dont want it to be god awful loud, but i can handle a little louder.
  2. Oh yeah. This isnt one of those things that anyone should be too afraid to do. Really marking everything prior to disconnecting is the most important part. Removal and replacement is the no brainer part.
  3. Lmao. Sexy Jelacy goes for a ride in blah blah blah ricer crap. The chick whose shirt pops open is hot though..
  4. I have been watching summit racings quick flicks. The old guy does a crazy good indepth job of explaining the mathematics behind flow and what not. And if i am not watching those i am watching everything from wing suit base jumping to gymkhana to russian road rage. Russian road rage is hilarious. Oh and the dude with the bad russian accent fpsrussia does some good shooting videos. Not sure how he gets his hands on all those guns. X2
  5. Even more detailed than my explanation, and as such it is even more correct than mine. Good write up, guy on youtube bored a hole in a 2x4 to slip over pinion so you can bang on it to seat the seal. I made on of my own and it is very handy, not a big fan of banging on the seal with a hammer so this gave me a little sense of security that i wasnt damaging the seal.
  6. Thank you man. My tuner was really cool, we drove my truck up and down the road a lot while he was evaluating how it was running. Had to pull into several places to kill the truck so he could make his adjustments. I feel like he did a good job and the truck is fun to drive, even though it is a crew. Plannin on talking to danny this evening to come up with some direction for it. Oh and dont get me started on tattoos. I have got one on my side that is proof you never let a guy put ink on you after he has been going for 7 hours straight before getting to you. Dude drilled the sh&t out of my side and blew out pretty much the entire tat. It looks like a damn prison tat
  7. Never ran it man. So no pudding for the proof. I love the way it runs, so i should be ok, i just hear so much praise for the three gods of tuning i just fear i am missing out.you know, everyone wants the best for their baby.
  8. Like anything else you do to your baby, you will most likely sweat the details longer than the job itself takes. Should have seen me today when i was installing the vette servo. To me the transmission is this mythical unicorn that should never be touched for fear of catastrophic meltdown lol. Imagine my surprise when i finished, took it for a spin, and the only thing that happened was a big grin appeared on my face.
  9. Its a 2wd crew cab with g80 3.73s
  10. Youtube. Guy does it on a lift but depending on how low you are dropped, you should be able to do it on your back, or put it on jackstands. If you put it on jackstands, set your ebrake so the pinion doesnt spin on you when reinstalling the pinion nut
  11. Crap, it didnt show up did it? Look up " how to install replace rear axle differential pinion seal 1aauto
  12. Nope. http://youtu.be/ZeTlelQFia4 Here is a good video, its an old k5, but same principle. You dont even open the rear diff when you do it. All the work is done on the driveshaft side of the diff.
  13. The last part of your question is probably already been answered in your head lol. The answer to the first part of your question is that it is not too bad. Gonna do my neighbors pretty soon. Just gotta drop the drive shaft out of the way, make sure you mark the pinion nuts position in relation to the flange, count your exposed threads, pop off pinion nut, use a screwdriver to crinkle the edge of the old seal so you can pry it out, fully seat your new seal, use a block of wood with a hole in it big enough for your pinion to fit in and seat the seal in by banging on the block of wood. Reconnect everything in line with your marks and make sure you tighten your nut down to the old thread count and maybe give it a little bit more of a rotation.
  14. Unfortunately that dyno is in Baytown and i am several hours away. But it is not out of the question for the near future. I have to run off of the more unconventional butt cheek dyno
  15. Its not that it doesnt seem right per say. This is my first big V8 since the 99 3/4 ton i had when i was a teenager, and trust me that thing was a turd, awesome truck but to say it was lacking in the performance department is an understatement. My concern is whether or not i got all the bang for my buck with the tuning that i could have. I know i have a cc so that adds some weight to the issue, but i just want to make sure that i am getting what everyone else is getting with their tunes. I trust the guy i just want to make sure. I know without a dyno comparison i cant really see it in numbers but i was wondering if there were certain major traits that a great tune exhibit over lets say a mild tune.
  16. Got the vette servo installed. Great little addition imho

  17. It would be nice to hear from zippy or someone who tackles these tunes to know if I asked for the right setip from my tuner. I didnt want to do anything that could tear up my transmission, but I did want as much performance from the engine I could get. Should I have him go over it again with anything in particular in mind. He is a stellar dude and I really think he is a capable tuner.
  18. I know its an old thread but I came to this one when I was wondering if I could do the vette servo. Just in case any one like me comes along in the future. 4l70 does allow for vette servo replacement. The servo in the 70 is actually sized inbetween the one in the 60/65 and the one in the vette so the apply area is not going to be as dramatic of a jump when you switch to a vette servo. I just put mine in today. Already had a 5lb bump in line pressure via tune and it shifted pretty good with that but now it is even better. It also made 2nd to 3rd better. I actually chirped second in my tank sized crew cab so I was really happy with the mod. Oh btw, it is super easy to do. Removing the heat shield was the hardest part and that wasnt even that bad. Took me about an hour and that was with trying to keep an eye on my rambunctious 4 year old fella. First time I have ever done anything to a transmission besides check the fluid lol
  19. My neighbor has some 15" wide mickey street tires and they are expensive decorations for his truck lol. He has a s10 with a vortec 350 with a nast cam and all he does is spin them when he gets on it. Not like he is putting down insane hp.
  20. Ugh, I do not need to hear about lsu losing to ol miss anymore..my poor tigers. Could have still gone all the way and then that sh&t hapens. I cried a single tear after that
  21. Yea..I had him turn tow/haul into beast mode. I dont use it often because i had him remove all the TM off of tow haul so to be honest I am a little scared to use it. It holds 1st gear to about 22 mph when I am putting along lol and when I get on it it shifts really high in the revs. I had him leave some TM in normal mode, about 25 or 30 % iirc. He bumped the line pressure about 5lbs and raised the shift points up several hundred rpms. I do not get good mpg, but i dont care cuz I work 3 miles from my house. I can make a tank last almost a month sometimes and its my DD. I think he removed the PE delay? He tweaked the afr. He tried to add 1 degree of timing and it wouldnt take it anywhere in the table so I had to run the 87 out and I came back with 93 and he was able to 5 to 6 degrees of timing across the board. I did install a vette servo just now and oh my god! Normal shifting is definately amazing now! It was chirping second, I do need new tires but it wasnt doing that before. Also made my 2 to 3 shift way more pronounced.
  22. So I had my truck tuned about a year ago. I just dont know if he got it right. People seem to really like the guy and he definately has the years of big horsepower experience. I dont want to say he didnt but I just dont know if I am feeling what everyone else is feeling in their tunes. Everyone is head over heels about Justin, Zippy, and Wheatley as far as what their tunes brought to their driving experience. Just want to know if I got that but just had higher expectations.
