    Tailgate upgrades

Yep the gate assist works good it doesn't slam down. It's not as smooth as the new trucks are but it works dang good.

    Tailgate upgrades

I was really nervous after seeing how many guys got their tailgate stolen. By the time you buy a new one and all the parts to make it an SS one plus paint, I bet your almost at $1000 bucks..... Don't hold your breath.....

    Tailgate upgrades

Man its been slow on here! I thought I would share some mods that I did a few weeks back... I added the Dee Zee tail gate assist... this is nice so the tailgate doesn't slam down! I also added the Jimmy Jammer tail gate protector... (another member someotherguy aka Richard recommended). I didn't realize how easy it is to remove the tail gate so at least this would slow them down a little. The kit comes with an allen head bolt. I may upgrade it to a theft proof fastener in the future but for time being used the bolt that came with it. I would recommend having a metric tap set handy. The bolt hole on my tailgate was a little jacked up. I ran a tap in and out and cleaned the threads up and the bolt went in like butter. I can sleep a little better knowing its not so easy to remove now. http://www.jimmijammer.com/Product,%20GK.htm
  6. You stole them at 70.... 500 is a bit steep but if you have to have them it's the law of supply and demand....

    Yeah Baby!

A few months back a guy had a bunch of them..... they pop up every once and a while you just gotta be fast!

    Yeah Baby!

I got mine off of eBay. I think they are all gone....?
  9. It's odd your rear blew up. Typically the front diff is the one that goes. You need some special tools to setup a rear end properly you need a GOOD dial indicator to check backlash. I don't feel comfortable doing, if its not perfect you'll be doing again. If it was me I would pay someone and have it done right. I like OE parts but I'm sure others will chime in. Places like Yukon gear use parts from India and I have heard (no pun intended) they are noisy. Knew a tech who bought their gears and parts for his Jeep. He wished he would have paid a little more and got a better gear set.
  10. Do yourself a favor crawl underneath and pull the fill plugs. I guarantee one will have a ton of metal in it (or no fluid). You will then know which one is your problem..... another option is put your computer REALLY close to the truck and then one of us will be able to tell what the problem is....
  11. Shipping will cost more than the part.... just save up and buy a corsa!

    Temp Gauge

I would also recommend changing the thermostat. It is cheap insurance if you don't have any maintenance history. I did mine right after I got my truck 2 years ago. Even though it only had 48k I replaced every hose when I did the coolant and thermostat. It was almost 10 years old and I figured was time to replace the hoses. I also had a slight leak I could smell coolant which I found was one of my hoses had a tiny leak.
  13. So true.... it used to be when you hit 100k it was time to take it to the scrap heap. Now at 100k anymore they are just getting broken in....
  14. Yes, it will save the two new remotes. The only difference is the fob will not say 1 and 2 so you will have to keep track which remote is programed as #1 and #2. I actually think these trucks will remember up to 4 remotes but you would only have seat memory etc. for only two.
  15. Welcome! Did they ever recover your first one?
  16. It should be a Bright blue.... GM did offer a blue green color and it was called Bermuda Blue. It it was never on a SS. Did you look at the door jambs? Was the color the same? Sure fire way to tell if a vehicle has been repainted is feel the edges of a door/hood etc. if it feels rough it has been repainted or repaired. Factory paint has a totally glass smooth edge.
  17. 2k won't get you a decent paint job..... ok maybe at macco but 2k will barely cover materials.....
  18. They make an adapter for that too....
  19. Yuck! More like pimp'ss...... lol. It's cheap'ish which is about all it has going for it.
  20. My number one remote doesn't work good. They no longer make the 1 and 2 version but rather one that is just blank on the back. My plan was to buy a new one from Rock auto ( they have the ac delco /oe one) and stuff the guts in my old #1 fob.
  21. Good clean trucks are hard to find that have low miles. Probably why they are asking a premium. Something is worth what someone is willing to pay. While not incredibly rare ( they made lots). Silverado SS's are a unique truck...
  22. It's definitely not a full floater those only came on the HDs. I'm not sure if it's a semi float I think it's more a hybrid. In 2006 they went back to drums on the rear, actually in mid 05. I think the only trucks that came with the 14 bolt were the SS and trucks with the Vortec Max package.
