  1. Sometimes the lead wire that goes to the trailer 7 pin isn't connected at the fuse stud. Remove the plastic shroud around the fuse box and see if there isn't a loose wire there that should be connected to the stud
  2. From a friend with a 62 nova that does 9sec, and a few of his buddies with a 72 camaro, and a few El Camino's that also run high 9s low 10s depending on the set up they run, the hot ticket is hydroboost for them as well. They can finally get their cars to stop at the end of the run, with no time loss
  3. http://torquerush.com/ The other way is to do the speartech TAC module and harness, either way costs about the same
  4. No it will not, we have an 8 pin plug, the 87mm and 90mm TB have a 6, and its not something that can be done by repining a plug
  5. Second this. I did not experience any noticeable power loss, and I don't think the power steering pump does any real work until either the steering wheel is turned or brakes are applied. The routing of the power steering pump lines goes as follows. (PowerSteering)>>>(HydroBoost)>>>(Recirculating Ball)>>>(PSCooler)>>>(PS) HB and RB both have low pressure waste dumps that flow back to the pump.
  6. Yes, but you will need to also get the larger serpentine belt to go with it.
  7. Yes and No, I have done both big brakes (Baer 6s fronts/15'rotors, Alumasport rears/14"rotors ) and hydroboost. While the big brakes did help over stock, it took hydroboost to really make the system come together. Big brakes on a vacuum assisted setup leave room for improvements, especially if you have a cam that makes little vacuum
  8. you will need an xlink to control the bigger TB or the 4-3 TB adapter, if possible the fuel rails and cross over form the TBSS manifold, and that is about it. If you are going to use the injectors from the TBSS, then you will also need the harness to convert from multitec 2 injectors to ev6
  9. Our trucks don't have PCV valves, just on orifice on the drivers side valve cover with a baffle. This issue does seem vacuum related, stock the cam should idle at around 16" of vacuum.
  10. I am assuming that he meant the truck did not grab 1st year, so he did a 2nd gear pull, and bogged the truck down. At that speed, unless you are tuned, the PCM will not command a 1st gear downshift.
  11. I would contact HPTuners and see if they will give you the free demo version. By doing so you can familiarize yourself to the software and you can even play with it. Another option is EFILilve, they have the full software available for download on their main page. The only thing needed to activate is is the actual device. Best advice would be to hook up with someone who is wiling to help you out, whether its by email, or in person and use the same software they are using. As for ease of use, that depends on you... HPT/EFIL both have many more programmable tables than megasquirt does. HPT is like it but on steroids, EFILive would be the same with a different user interface.
  12. There are six bolt that hold the axle to the diff. NOT 4
  13. Engine oil is one fluid that needs to always be at operating temp. Proceed with do regard here.
  14. There is also a 36mm nut that bolts the axle to the spindle/
  15. I don't like the idea either, this pump should be wired via relays to turn on when the fuel pump is on. This way way it only runs when the engine is running. If there is a need to have it on when the engine is of, a simple relay can also override the main trigger. You want to keep electrical loads to a minimum when flashing a pcm/ecm/tcm. Catastrophic results can happen if voltage drops to low.
  16. I'm partial to the innovate LC1 or the LM2 for temporary use, or multi vehicle use. Other good brands are AEM, PLX and a few others. I would go over the EFIlive tutorials and pick a wideband that has serial logging support.
  17. Who is doing your tune, IIRC it was zippy, but it sounds like your tune needs to be dialed in better. Also use the IAT and ECT fuel/timing modifiers to control temp change, not the VE table
  18. Once again, I'm sure he know the consequences of his actions. Hell, it might even last him longer than anybody else's trans driving it that way. As for the transmission burning up, its a risk taken as soon as one starts modding their vehicle, are you going to stop them from modding now, since they will now be putting their transmission at risk?
  19. Don't worry about how he uses his truck, I'm sure he is well aware of the consequences of holding a gear to long or manually shifting down at to high of a speed. He asked if it can be done, and it can.
  20. Blown 346 he is talking about doing a Wideband O2 sensor, not just adding a fancy gauge to the stock narrow band O2 sensor. powell, you can either install the wideband in place of a stock narrow band, most high end wideband sensors come with a wire to simulate narrow band operation and will continue to work with the stock PCM, the second output will be used to feed data signal to the EFILive V2 using one of the orange connectors. Another method is to use the serial input of EFILive to monitor the data from the WBO2 in its purest form with less 'noise'. This method requires a few more parts but defiantly worth it when tuning. EFIlive has a good tutorial on how to do this in the software
  21. Yes the tune can be set up so that the trans does not shift into 2nd when the shifter is put in 1st. And the transgo shift kit will also allow you to select any gear and hold that gear. A negative of the transgo kit is that if you are driving normal and manually shift to 1st, the trans will shift down no matter the speed.
  22. If you want to lock your TC at wot, or tow, then do a multidisk. If not a single disk will be fine. Single to multidisk does have a big price jump though
