  1. They work great Installed my B&M Transmission Cooler
  2. First day on the assembly line after the merger would probably be something like that old Johnny Cash song...
  3. No, it was not me. I don't go to LA much, I prefer heading to the mountains.
  4. What would you call it? General Ford Motors Ford GM GM Ford Gford Gord ForGM And what would happen to all those Ford's vs Chevy's arguments? A Ford and Chevy would be as different as a Chevy truck and a GMC truck
  5. I would push the dealer to stand behind it. Either it was abused before you got it, or the transmission is defective. I have over 50,000 miles on my 03 SS with the Radix. I recently had the filter changed, and asked my mechanic to pay close attention for any debris, and he said it was very clean, so my transmission seems to be holding up fine with the Radix. But I still have Torque Managment at the stock settings. I won't be changing that until the truck is paid off and I can afford a new upgraded transmission.
  6. Things must be kinda slow at the State Attorney General's office lately. Aren't they supposed to be prosecuting child molesters and murderers or something? Oh, I keep forgetting, this is California, where crime is just a psychological problem
  7. Why use a switch? Mine just come on and off with the engine. I did add a jumper so I could run then with the ignition off, along with the intercooler pump. Fun way to cool down at the track. I also added a thermostat switch so the heat exchanger fans would be off in cold weather. Well, for what passes for "cold" here in Southern California
  8. I don't think the heat exchanger cares which way it is mounted. The only consideration I can think of is having the upper tube be the inlet (heat rises) and the lower tube be the outlet. Are you going to mount electric fans behind the heat exchanger? If not, think about it, they help a lot, especially since you don't get the airflow from the engine fan when you mount it down there. If you are going to do electric fans behind the heat exchanger, consider which mounting method will leave you with room for the fans. I used a different heat exchanger, but this might be of interest intercooler upgrage
  9. Yes, $225 sounds expensive considering you just unbolt the stock exhaust, make a cut in the pipe, to make it easier to wiggle out, and the MagnaFlow bolts right on. As for the tip, I was hoping to get that as well. I like the look of the stock tip the best. My intention is to see if I can combine two stock exhaust systems to make a true dual exhaust with stock sound levels. At this point I don't even know if I can fit two mufflers down there or not. For such a big truck there is not much room to spare down there But depending on how I wind up doing the exits, I may have to replace both of my tips in the process, since the stock tip won't "flip over" for a second exit on the drivers side behind the rear wheel. On the other hand, two stock tips will fit one behind the other in the stock position, but I dunno if that would look very good. I guess I need to go by the muffler shop and see what they think they could do for me. Anyone evere see an exhaust tip that looks like the stock exhaust tip but comes in right and left hand versions? I guess I need to do some research before I can say if I could do with out the tip.
  10. Yeah, there are a couple of catches This was installed by MagnaFlow on my 03 SS for test fitting back in Sept 04. I used it for 4 months, and had MagnaFlow put back to stock. Too much noise for an old fart like me, but others seem to like it. It has been sitting in the garage, gathering dust since then. Because they used this for test fitting, Magnaflow did leave a few extra welds on the pipes that you can see in the big pictures below. Only an issue if you spend a lot of time under your truck admiring things ;) The catches- 1) You must be local to the Southern California area. This makes it easy for you to pickup (sorry, no shipping) and take care of catch 2. 2) Bring me back your old stock SS exhaust, removed with care. Should only take one cut. WAV of the exhaust sound Really big pic of the exhaust as it is now Another really big pic of the exhaust as it is now Bit of history on how I got the exhaust: Magnaflow is twisting my arm!, Giving me a free exhaust
  11. What size pulley do you have? I don't recall if the 04 Deanli's are LQ4 or LQ9 engines, if they are LQ4s then you will have a smaller pulley than would come for the SS (LQ9). It will probably work fine in any event.
  12. I could have used that on my vacation last year, SoCal to Montana and back.
  13. Now that sounds like fun, have the wife leaning on the horn while you stick your head under the hood to mess with the screw to adjust the tone better buy some earplugs first
  14. Here is where I mounted mine. The controller I got allows mounting at an angle. I can reach down and hit the manual brake when needed and it is far enough to the right to not get in the way of my knees. I bolted the mount to an existing hole in the metal dash support. This way I didn't have to screw up the interior with holes in the plastic.
  15. They work great! You just need to do the free bumper mod Actually, I have heard they are used as tie-downs when shipping.
  16. Mine is an '03, but I had my SS weighed at the track. With a 1/4 tank of fuel, the extra weight of the supercharger (80-100 lbs?) and the BedRug and Undeseat box, it came out to : 5238 lbs total 3163 lbs front 2075 lbs rear
  17. I got in the seat belt habit early on. My '64 Impala has bench seats and if you are not wearing the lap belt when making a quick left turn, you could wind up sitting on the passenger's side
  18. If you want an easy to maintain blower, the Radix is the way to go. I have not had to do a thing to it since I installed it 50,000 miles ago. Sure it has a whine when you floor it, but it is not loud, and gets lost in the exhaust sound for the guy that you are leaving behind
  19. I got you beat by 50 degrees...
  20. If the switch affects the FM radio, then you probably have an FM moulator type iPod interface. They plug in between the FM radio and antenna. Sound quality is ok, but not as good as a proper line interface. You will need to tune to a specific station to find your iPod music playing. Try starting at the lowest numbered FM frequencys and go up. It is probably marked on the modulator as well, if you want to dig inside.
  21. Jegs or Summit should have them. Mine is a B&M trans cooler, the details are in this thread. Trans cooler There is another brand of cooler that has a thermostat to keep things from getting too cool in cold weather. I forget the name, but do some searches on transmission coolers and you should find it.
  22. High transmission temperatures = shorter transmission life. Adding a bigger cooler is rather easy and inexpensive compared to what it is protecting.
  23. Changing the starter on my '64 Impala, long ago. Forgot to disconnect the battery and was wrenching the positive line off the solenoid, wrench handle hit the transmission cooler line (ground). Big spark, hole in the transmission line, fire… I think that was the quickest I ever got out form under a car At least the fire was small and put out by kicking some dirt on it. Had great fun bending my own replacement for the transmission cooler line.
