  1. most guys don't go past 10lbs of boost. I know it's not the block that's the problem it's the piston and bolts that are the problem. as he mentioned their are a couple of companies that make a front mount system. Their however are not to many that do it for a decent price. I have talked to allen nelson about the sts kit also but ended up changing the plans when I bought a new truck. He was telling me their are a few guys that he did work for that are runnng 16lbs of boost on a stock 6.0 lq9. also I would most definetly invest in a 4l65e level 5 from FLT. That will be my first big mod to my new truck.
  2. the springs are possibly sold, if not I will pm you and we can talk.
  3. Well I have started lookinf for a built tranny for a good pirce. I am jsut considering FLT if someone has a used one or one they didn't use but ordered. I don't have $2500+ for a new tranny but I could probably gt $1500-2000. I am jsut so unsure but I know that is the weak link also. thanks guys.
  4. http://www.w2wpowertrain.com/ these guys make a top mount turbo. I beleive you willhave to call them to get info though.
  5. magnaflow dual 2.5 in and single 3 inch out. had it on my vho about a year ago for about 5k miles. wasn't loud at all but made a nice tone since the cats were still on then. it is a 14 inch case and here is a link to the magnaflow it is.my magnaflow this muffler is universal and can be flipped to go any direction. I will sell it for 70 shipped obo. it is the satin stainless. I currently have a 3 inch dump on it that is roughly 14 inches long. I can cut it off or send like is. SOLD !! Also have for sale are used 918 springs that I bought but will not be using. I was told have around 4k miles on them and I looked and inspected and everything look great on them. their in the original box and will be shipped that way. $110.00 shipped or I could sale both and ship them for $165.00 Firm.
  6. I think the first thing I will do depending on parts is put hopefully in a zippy shift kit and then get it tuned. I don't want to have to replace the entire transmission for a upgraded flt level 5 while I have a brand new one working fine. I also don't have a reputable shop around to really do any kind of work for me. Does the stock radix pulley for the 5.3 come with the 3.4 or 3.5 pulley and what kind of boost is that making 5-7 psi? On my 04 vho the tune from nelson made the biggest difference especially after I got it retuned with the LT's. just not sure about forced induction since this is my first. NA I have a pretty good idea what to do. any ideas on how much TQ management can be taken out running a radix safely? also what pulley and boost levels can we go up to on the 5.3? I don't know if a cam swap willbe in the future because I would really like to get a nicce 6.0 to throw the radix on but who knows. Just waiting on the truck to come in and get everything installed. Also 4.10 were what I wanted in the truck but their was only one in a 5 state wide search that would have cost me $1800 more becasue of the shipping and other upgrades so I jsut dealt with the 3.42 and I will keep them until their is a real need to swap them out for something better.
  7. Ok guys I have my new truck on order and the dealership has the radix waiting to go n the truck when it shows up. I will have a 2007 Classic gmc regular cab 4 wd 5.3 liter with 3.42 gears in the rear. what is the best first move to do? I am sure it''s a tune but wouldn't adding other things to make everything more efficient be better then get a tune to revamp everything at once to see a nice big increase? any suggestions?
  8. get me some pictures and I could tell you alot more about it. Descriptions are good and all but unless you can see a classic their is really know way to tell.
  9. I have the same truck as you and Allen recommended these cams. FM1-F11-114 FMS Custom Grind Camshaft - 228"/230" .576"/.595" 114LSA - aggressive profile with a 2200-6600 RPM range, fair idle FMS Custom Grind Camshaft - 224"/228" .588"/.576" 114LSA - aggressive profile with a 1800-6600 RPM range, fair idle FMS Custom Grind Camshaft - 226"/230" .575"/.595" 114LSA - semi-aggressive profile with a 2000-6800 RPM range, fair idle I wanted a decent idle with good mid range and up top. You will need a stall somewhere in the 2600-3200 range. I was considering the 228/230 but any of these would work on the street. that was my main concern.
  10. it happened to me when I took my truck in for normal service. I saw it a couple of hours after I got it back and called and they got the part and put a new one in within the hour. No big deal really.
  11. ok thanks, I've been talking to allen a little trying to get a done price roughly for install labor tune upgrade injectors and pump and the turbo. it's going to take awhile but I've already made up my mind that I want the turbo. thanks Berserker
  12. who's it made by? looks to shiny to be a magnaflow?
  13. Ok I've been looking at the STS system and working on saving my pennies but I have a few questions. How much boost can you run on the lq9? Is the air/air intercooler worth the money or should you jsut run like 5lbs boost and have the meth kit turn on when you up the dial? how does tuning work for changing the boost on a controler? what size turbo do you need to get up their into the max boost? if I go with a bigger turbo is that going to cause more lag? fuel requirements(upgrading injectors, inline fuel pump?) when do I need to start worrying about this? thanks guys. also this is going to be on a QC 4x4 VMAX GMC that will be coming soon. the truck below is in the process of being sold. thanks again.
  14. I saw that McGaughys has a drop that will fit and it's a 2/4. which kit is better the Belltech or them?
  15. you can have them, all I really wanted are the headrest to throw in my next project. 2007 QC 4x4 VMAX
  16. now will those ride and handle really well? I drive alot of beat up old highways so I would like it to ride a little better then my VHO I current have. thanks
  17. Ok guys as of right now their will be my truck going to my cousion and I will have a 2007 gmc quad cab 4x4 possibly a vmax. I want to be different and I would like to sport drop it to give a better ride and handling characteristics. what would you go with? since it's a QC shortbed I couldn't use the SS lowering kit, but should I peice something together from different kits? I just want it to be around 2-3 inches in front and 4-5 in back. I am also searching out some awesome deals velocity 6 wheels in either 20's or 22's to have black powder coated completely. I think it will go good with a black truck thanks for any help or suggestions
  18. are the seats ok, I have a new truck project starting soon and those front buckets would work. let me know thanks
  19. Well my truck is almost sold to my cousin which will take effect in about a month so I am on the look out for a truck. I would like to find a crew cab 1500 4x4 with the vortecmax 6.0 hopefuly with some goodies. I only want black with leather interior. yeah I am picky but oh well anybody have or know anybody or sees something email me or pm me. thanks [email protected]
  20. I would cut the exhaust pipe and remove some pipe and have a muffler shop weld in the corsa tips right before the rear wheel.
  21. If I didn't have the tips and it was dumped I think this would sound so much meaner and cleaner. I was wondering if some super short bullets would take that popping away. well the truck is now looking for a new home. Not in any hurry to sell but I am open because I want a 2006 denali quad cab.
