  1. Good news and bad news. I've got 60 of them sitting on my desk. Found the hardware I was desperately trying to find, thanks again Ray. We fixed to way oil problem from last week. Now for the bad. Unfortunately we had another slight hiccup with our CNC. Apparently the belleville springs that hold the tool holder, which holds the tooling were snapped. It dropped down and whipped out a 4" surface cutter, moved one of the machining vises over 6" and damaged the taper on the head. We spent most of Thursday and Friday fixing the machine and its looking pretty good. So should be up and running on Tuesday. Sorry for the delays guys. I know you guys are chomping at the bit to get these things and trust me, there is nobody that wants these things done more than me. I've only worked 3 days in the last month and my wife is really really not happy that I keep spending more and more money on these things. Its costing me about double what I thought it was to make these things and I was being pretty generous at my budget. But in the end I know he final product will be worth it. So be patient they are coming.
  2. Was going to start playing with the rears today but ran into a hiccup. Our CNC spit out a tool so now we get to figure out why.
  3. Its not my truck. I copied the picture from another thread on here so people could see what it looks like installed. I pulled the cover off to haul a friends bike and just decided not to put it back on.
  4. Just letting you guys know I didn't get a chance to get quotes today. Had to deal with some family stuff. I'll get quotes Monday through my work so it will be cheaper.
  5. Looks like I'm going to be shipping this thing. If you are interested and out of state let me know what your address is and I can get a quote.
  6. HAHA now you got my wife hook on buying stuff off you guys. PM sent.
  7. Let me know what you guys would prefer. Obviously the no hardware raw version would be substantially less expensive and the more complete would be substantially more expensive.
  8. If you can mass produce them go for it. I thought about doing it when I first started looking into the front brackets but haven't had time to yet.
  9. I'll look into them. So you are making the rears for the 6 pistons calipers?
  10. Still can't say 100% yet. Trying to find the right hardware proved to be a real pain. I wanted 10.9 but didn't want zinc plated too. Thanks to Ray for telling me where he got his from. I spent an entire day looking for 14 mm x 2.0 pitch x 65 mm long grade 10.9 zinc plated bolts. Ordered one "complete set" from the distributor and if all is correct will be ordering enough for the fronts and rears for the first batch. I'll say the fronts will probably be $250 and the rears probably $125 but prices also depend on the hardware, water sawing and anodizing costs. If its cheaper than I anticipate than I'll drop the price. If its more, which I doubt, I may not make the rears at all and just do the fronts.
  11. I didn't write it. The guy that does all the programing and drawings did it for me. Just curious what would you change? Oh yeah I forgot to mention too that started messing around with the rears since I have so much free time waiting for parts to be done every 31 minutes. I think I might even have them done by the time the first batch of fronts is done or shortly there after. Have to see how much water sawing cost first though.
  12. Here is a few pics to update you guys and show you what is involved in making these things. Start with your billet blocks Every 31 minutes put a new block in, move them all over one and the last one goes into the tumbler. An hour in each section. When its all finished you get a whole lot of this and not very many of these (two days worth) radiused edges so you shouldn't have to grind your calipers Had somewhat of a setback today. The machine kept giving an error code for low oil level for the ways but. Had the machine apart for a few hours but now she is running great. The part that sucks is that it kept stopping in the middle of the program so I'd come back 30 minutes after I started the program only to find that it had only run for a few minutes. Did this randomly all morning until we fixed it. Needless to say I didn't accomplish much today.
  13. 85 lbs. Weighed it today for another member that pmed me that same question.
  14. I just pulled this off my 2005 SS to haul a friends bike and decided not to put it back on so its up for sale. Its a black Gemtop GT Classic tonneau cover. Its low profile and loolks really clean, I just don't like tonneau covers. There are a few blemishes. It could use a detailing. I paid almost $900 for this new about 4 years ago. It comes with all the parts needed to mount it but I would get some new sheet metal screws. From what I've found online, there is a clamp on bracket available separately. I'd like to get $400 for it. I would prefer not to ship it. I'm in southern California and can meet part way if you have cash in hand. Sporttruck.com How to install Gemtop GT Classic Tonneau cover This is not my truck but this is what it looks like installed.
  15. Got a pallet full of pre-cut pieces waiting to be milled. Unfortunately my boss want to use the machine to prototype a few parts. Saw what I was doing and got a few ideas for some stuff he wanted to make. He should be done today or early next week. But I can't complain since he is letting me use the machine for free. I just have to pay for coolant tooling, etc. Basically so its not costing him to let me use it. Good news though. The shop is getting some new tumbling media which will give a better final product. The also found a shop to anodize their parts and hopefully I can sneak my parts in with their order and get a better price.
