    Have A New Cam

I have to keep my throttle body cleaned frequently of mine will stall at idle especially during parking when turning the wheel or something. You might want to make sure the throttle plate is clean.
  2. I'm interested in how easy it was to apply and how well it stays put.
  3. Oh I didn't realize other sites were there too. I shoulda went.
  4. Silverdream, You still want that converter? Did you say you run at Fayetteville? I have been a couple of times. I didn't realize you were spraying, how big is the shot and what are some times. I want to spray but I have to fix my KR issue first. I am curious what I might run with some juice.
  5. I hate I missed it. I had to do some work. I had about 45 shrubs and about 30 trees to prune. I'm sure you guys had much more fun than I did. We should do it more often. Maybe next time we can plan to meet up and cruise somewhere. Maybe arouind the beach.
  6. Stay away from the Whipple. Horror stories of engine damage. I turned down a complete setup for my truck for $1200.
  7. Hey, I have a stock exhaust tip and a TBTC that I will sell if anybody is interested I can bring them with me if I come. Make me a good offer. Remember you'll save shipping. I also have stock exhaust manifolds.
  8. I am thinking about selling a couple of parts. First is my stock exhaust tip, no dents, needs pollishing, and I have a TB converter that I got new and ran it maybe 2,000 miles. I swapped cams and needed more stall. This one stalled to about 2600-2800 in my truck. Im not sure how much shipping would be. Make me an offer on either. I may go to the meet in Charlotte, NC this month, I could take it with me.
  9. I will try to make it, I just saw the post today. I would love to have a tune done. I am having KR issues out of the hole and have since tuning. I'm pulling 7 degrees retard. I'm ready to get this straight. Justin didn't tune it by the way, I had a local shop do it. Anybody got an idea what kind of increase I could expect without the retard issue?
  10. How "high stall" do you want? I have a Trailblazer converter that gave my truck about 2600 stall. I also have a Yank 3200 in my truck that I may consider taking out. $250 for the TB shipped. It has less than 5,000 miles on it.
  11. You will need a custom tune with a cam swap. Your Over-the-counter tuners won't do it. I would highly recommend by experience to not buy a used cam. I did for half the cost of new and unfortunately it was a stock cam which I didn't find out until I installed it. Luckily, for me, the guy I bought it from had purchased it from someone else (who screwed him too) and he was honest enough to refund my money. A new cam runs about $400, you will need valve springs to handle the new lift and hardened pushrods are recommended. All together you can expect to pay around $600-700 for all. I would start with the exhaust you already have, CAI, a good tune, and maybe a Trailblazer torque converter. These will give you pretty good gains for low cost.
  12. Your PCM B fuse problem is most likely the fuel pump. It is probably intermittently drawing too much current and popping the fuse. I have seen this multiple times at the dealership. Replace your fuel pump and I bet that problem goes away.

    New 1/4 Mile Time

Thanks for explaining that. I have no idea what mine is set at. I think the timing is about 28 degrees, and there is no TM, the shifts are set at 6100. That's about all I know. Of course I have that pesky little isue with the KR out of the hole.

    New 1/4 Mile Time

I guess it suck being the man. LOL I know the feeling, I am a GM technician and I never have time anymore to work on my stuff and when I do, I'm so tired of working on cars, I don't fell like messing with mine. I have a stupid question, what is p.e.

    New 1/4 Mile Time

I'll try to reply to everybody's comments, RacerJJ, I don't know how much I can change the shift points, right now it is set to shift at 6100 at WOT. I probably could have hit the 13's without a cam. I ran a 9.07 in the 1/8th with stock cam and tune with a TB converter. There is more in my truck, we just have to find it. I am thinking about getting someone else to tune it. Zippy, I have a question and please don't be offended. You have a good reputation online for tuning and tranny upgrades, how come your truck isn't running any quicker times than it is so far? It seems like you help so many people run faster and faster, I just figured you would have a pretty darn fast truck yourself. I Am Mr. LessAmerican, The converter is OK, if I'd known it wasn't going to pick it up anymore than it did, I would have kept the TB converter in it. I had all the same mods with a TB converter and ran as good. It wasn't worth $945 in my opinion. It is loose enough though, It does what it says it will do as far as stall speed but my truck actuallu runs better ET if I launch at around 1500-2000 rpm. The wheels are 6 lug and will bolt right up. They are just not very attractive. Haul@ss, You would be better off and cheaper with a TB converter. The one I had in mine would brake torque to almost 2800 rpm if I stood on the brakes. The only reasons I went to the Yank was my 60 ft worsened with the cam and MPH picked up so I went with a higher stall to get closer to the sweet spot of the cam. My 60 came back down under 2.0 but the MPH dropped back too. The ET never changed though.

I swapped the springs and push rods. I lost a little out of the hole until I put the converter in, then I gained it back. It idled like crap until tuned, now it's fine.

    New 1/4 Mile Time

Well, it ain't deep in the 13's but it counts. I only got 2 runs the other night because it was so busy, the first run I forgot to turn off the AC. The second run I spun a little off the line. Best run 60 ft. 1.95 1/8th 8.87 1/4 13.96 mph 95.00 I'm thinking about running some small tires on 16 inch wheels. Anybody done this? Does it make that much difference? Does it spin much? I have some early 90's 16 inch wheels and some 225/55-16 tires. I think it will just blister the tires, they are tiny.

    Finally

My 60 dropped with my cam but the trap speed picked up. My cam pulls hard from about 3500 up so I put a 3200 stall in and my 60 came back. I was dissappointed in the performance of the Yank versus the TB converter though. For $945, I expected more of an improvement. My ET actually didn't change because the trap speed dropped back to where it had been before. I ran a 9.07 with a 1.98 60ft with stock cam and stock tune with a TB converter. Now over $2,000 in mods later, I ran a 8.88 and had to remove the tailgate and ice the air intake tube to get that. I'm convinced I have tuning issues. Also the converter doesn't lock like it should on the highway so I don't know if that is an issue at the track. My tuner said he didn't program it to lock at WOT because of the weight of the truck, he thought it would hurt the ET.

    Finally

Yeah I ran a 9.07 with a 1.98 60 with the stock cam, TB converter and stock tune. There is definately more there, we just have to fine tune it. My problem is, I can't get the tuner to meet me at the track to log some runs and adjust. When we first tuned it, he told me he would do that, but that's been several months ago. He doesn't have a 4wd dyno so he only street tuned it. I have really thought about biting the bullet and getting somebody else to tune it for me. I just hate to spend another $400 when I've already paid for it once.

    Finally

I could have sworn I posted this earlier today but I don't see it. OK here is the short version. New best time. 60 ft. 1.93 1/8 th 8.88 mph 77.94 Also ran a couple of 8.95's and a 9 flat

    New 1/4 Time

Yeah, they are kinda noisy. Can that be corrected? It only does it from a hard launch, either torqued or just matted from a stop but worse when brake torqued. Like if I try to launch around 2,000-3,000 rpm.
  22. RT has nothing to do with your ET. The ET starts when you move.

    New 1/4 Time

Great times for your mods. Look at my mods in my sig and you will feel even better. Best 60ft. 1.98 1/8th 9.04 1/4 14.17 I am having KR issues with my tune though. The PCM is pulling 7 degrees timing out of the hole and holding it almost the whole track. It doesn't do it from a roll as bad. Any ideas Zippy? I don't hear any spark knock. I am running long tubes with no cats. I think the resonance is fooling the PCM into thinking it is spark knock. The guy that tuned it says he can desensitize it.

    P0332 Code?

Re: the pictures Yeah, the back sensors are known for corroding. GM's fix is a service bulletin that says to replace the sensor, then use RTV to make a dam in front of the hole so the water will run around it instead of in it. You just squeeze out a bead about 1/4 inch in diameter about 3/4 the way around the sensor hole, leaving the back open. As far as the trash in the picture, that's from rodents, you can see the acorns and stuff.
