  1. Aren't the JPR tools flat on one side? Any idea how long they need to be?
  2. Hey NC'ers. How about getting together at a track one weekend for a meet and run? I know Fayetteville is open on Sundays for test and tune and has Freaky Friday once in a while. Dunn-Benson Dragstrip has opened for the season for test and tune on Thursday nights. Not sure what day is race day, but I will find out. I don't know about Rockingham, Kinston, Jacksonville, etc. Anybody closer to them, chime in.
  3. Anybody got a set of the lifter holding tools to do a cam swap that you want to sell? They are on backorder through Thunder Racing and I need some now.
  4. Thanks for the info. I had no idea. That's what's great about this place, usefull info. If we could just get rid of the useless stuff. LOL!! I guess my tuner will know what to do. I have a list of all mods to give him. Hopefully the cam goes in this weekend then off to the tuner on Monday.
  5. What mods do you have? I have thrashed my truck since the upgrades with no problems at all. My mods are in my sig. Maybe something wasn't done right to begin with. The combo I have, I was told would hold over 500hp.

Yeah, I love the results, but it's way loud under heavy throttle. I may wait another week or two until I get the cam in to see what it sounds like at idle. It's gonna be sweet.
  7. The only problem is that stroking is only a temporary fix. It will do it again. First GM had us lubing them, then replacing, then oops, the new shafts do it too, OK, let's just lube them again, now they have another new shaft. Will this one fix it? Who knows. I do know it has a plastic bushing of some sort inside. The problem is this, the splines are too wide and too few, years ago we had more splines and they were closer together, no noise. DUH!! I don't know why they just don't go back to the previous design from years back.
  8. So you don't run higher line pressures in your tune if you have a shift kit? I'm confused. I thought that was all part of increasing the performance of the tranny running higher pressures and having a shift kit. So even with my tranny mods, I shouldn't increase line pressures with my tune?
  9. there's some little micro screens that go into the separator plate, save yourself the time of swapping those over, and get them from any trans shop. Here's some pics from my install. http://s122.photobucket.com/albums/o271/tx.../TransGo%20HD2/ if you already have a tune, it'll HAVE TO be retuned. Leave the washers in the bag, don't bother with them. have on hand, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 13mm scockets Why do you say it has to be retuned? Just if he already has a tune? Because I built mine with clutches, band, servos, shell, shift kit and all and have been running on the stock tune for over a month now. I will be getting it tuned as soon as I get the cam in, but it works fine the way it is. Well, except for the whole manual 2-3 shift. If left in D, it shifts fine. It won't shift 2-3 if done manually. This, I believe is a tuning issue, but other than that it's fine. What washers are you talking about?
  10. Thers is a software update to lower the chime volume. I think you will have to go to the dealer though. I just remember seeing it while programming other things.
  11. I did the same thing except I went ahead with the converter, and new clutches, and "The Beast" sunshell. It will work fine with your stock tune and you will definately have firmer shifts. I used the middle setting on the shift kit which is like street strip, not full race. It shifts so hard from first to second the belt chirps. The only problem I am having is trying to manually shift from 2-3. On the stock tune, it shifts too early if left in D, but it won't make the 2-3 shift if done manually. I think this is a tune issue and it will be resolved soon with a tune as soon as I get this stupid cam in. With the tune, I can raise my shift points so I can just leave it in D and let it shift on it's own.
  12. It is very addictive. I ran in a bracket race at my local track last weekend and won. I got $70 and a trophy. Last round I was against an S-10 running 7.40. I dialed a 9.11 and ran dead 9.11 with a 1.35 reaction time. I also ran against a bone stock Trailblazer SS 2wd before the racing began. I got him out of the hole and beat him to the end but he ran a faster time. I ran a 9.07, he ran a 8.99. I know he was about 2,000 lbs lighter but dang, he was stock.

Just the muffler. 2 1/2" dual in, 3" single out through the stock tailpipe. I already had the headers. Previous best was a 9.18 with a 2.02 60 ft. All I changed was the muffler and ran a 9.07 with a 1.98 60 ft. It is too loud though, I can't stand it. I don't care if it slows it down, I've got to change that muffler.
  14. You need to know what code or codes are set in the Transfer Case Control Module (TCCM). Fluid level is not your problem. You will need to take it to someone who can scan it and read the codes.
  15. Removing the front shaft does nothing to the front diff. It's the transfer case that will be damaged. There is a viscous coupler in the TC, that splits the torque front to rear. It will damage the coupler if operated without the front shaft in place.
  16. Borla makes the GM systems for them. How much for the muffler and pipe? Do you have the tip too? I don't have a clue how much shipping would be to NC.

Just had a Magnaflow installed yeasterday and ran my personal best today. 9.07 with a 1.98 60 ft. I hat e the sound but like the results.
  18. Wel until today this was my best. I had a Magnaflow installed yesterday, ran a 9.07 with a 1.98 60 ft. I like the results but not the sound. It's too dang loud.
  19. Hey, what did you do with your GM catback? Dod you take the whole thing off or just the muffler?
  20. I just put a Magnaflow on my truck yesterday, but it is way too loud. I may go back tomorrow and have it replaced with a Flowmaster. It helped the truck though, I had previously run a best of 9.18 with a 2.02 60ft. Today I ran several 9.10, 9.09, and one 9.07 with a 1.98 60 ft. I love the results but not the sound. It sounds great at idle and light throttle, but sounds like a glasspack under heavy throttle.
  21. Doesn't have one. It uses a fixed orifice system, which is what you saw on the rear of the left valve cover. GM went to this design due to oil consumption issues.
  22. Well, the muffler is on and TOO FREAKIN' LOUD!!! Holy crap! The install looks good but man, I can't stand the noise. It droans a lot at highway speeds and it is way too loud under mid throttle and up. I guess, I'll take it off Monday and try a Flowmaster. I have a guy at work that said he would buy the Magnaflow off me.
  23. My best 60 with my stall is 2.02, 9.18 in the 8th, 14.57 in the 1/4. But I'm still on the stock tune for just a short time hopefully. I hope to get the cam in by the end of this month, then I will have it tuned. I look forward to some 8 second passes. I should be there with the cam and tune easily.
  24. Check with your local exhaust shop, you may be surprised at how cheap you can get one. I am getting a stainless Magnaflow with a lifetime warranty installed today for $130 out the door. I am using my factory piping to the muffler, 2 1/2" dual in, 3" single out with the stock tailpipe and tip. Sorry, I don't know what series muffler it is.
