  1. Heck yeah thats sweet you love the boost.
  2. You will actually lose a bit on the bottom end from the first gear. the smaller the first gear the slower you will get out of the hole. I did the 80 swap. after going through 3 4l60e in the matter of a year and a half. 2 of those were built. I said what the heck lets try the 80 swap. it worked great for me. like stated above you can build a 60/70 to handle power but at what cost? most of the big HP truck and SUV guys go to the 80. the guys with TBSS also switch to the 80. So its really up to you. for the cost I have into my 80 swap I'm not going to complain. it took all I threw at it in complete stock forum. I launched the crap out of it with a 3200-3400 stall. that was with boost and nitrous. it never skipped a beat. I still have it just haven't had the truck together in 2 years. Motor came apart this time not the trans.
  3. Gotcha. Yeah it should be a beast either way. I enjoy putting these motors together. That's why I asked. I can see why you paid to have it put together. I'm the same way when it comes to transmissions. I pay people to do what they are good at and I do what I'm good at. You should have a blast in it. Boost is so much fun. Not sure mine will he going back to boost.
  4. Nice should be a beast. the power off of boost will be fun to. but with the compression being 10.3:1 it wont have issues building boost. Did you hav ethe cam specd or off the shelf? Did you assemble the shortblock or buy it done? As far as the windage tray i've seen guys just spacer the factory one out. is that not a good idea or just cheaper to buy a windage tray? I never looked into it.
  5. Nice. So what are the specs? are the heads stock 317s or worked over?
  6. Its funny you guys are busting his ballz. I think hes been doing pretty good. my truck is going on 2 years without being worked on. its not going anywhere still sitting in the garage under the cover. lol it will be there when I get to it. Compared to me your making great time. Ha
  7. Hmm then My local gun store is full of it. I went in looking .45. I had shot my buddys XDM .45 a few times and I liked it. But I wanted a handgun I could carry. So I went with a subcompact but I bought the .40 because according to the gu he said they didn't make a springfield didn't make a subcompact .45.
  8. Very good point. if its laying on top of the motor. would a ground strap from the hood to the firewall not allow it to start. or maybe he has something else going on.
  9. Thanks for the info. I guess I'll have a choice to make when it comes time to battle the brakes. I'll just be stoked when the time comes where I can drive it and actually use brakes. Lol I'm not crazy about the factory brakes with 24's I have had to mash on the brakes a time or two, its a bit scary.
  10. Ok thanks. I'm up for changing wheels if need be because lets face it with more power you also need more stopping power. so to run a bigger brake I would run and different set of wheels. I really like the wilwood tc6r brakes. they have come down a lot in the past two years. so I was thinking of going with those or the Z06. what do the Z06 kits run $3K to $3500? I know the wilwoods you can now get for $4000-$4300 depending on what style rotor you run and they are 16" up front and 14" out back.
  11. So wha were your clearance issues with the Boss 330's I have a set of 24s and would like to run a big brake kit or and Z06 set. would a spacer have helped?
  12. Nice looking piece. So is it a subcompact? I have a XD subcompact and I was looking for a .45 and was told they didn't make a .45 in a subcompact. I had to get a .40 so I'm now wondering if the retailer was feeding me lies. I love my xd sub. fun gun. I put 200 through it the first weekend I had it. nice shooting gun for being so small.
  13. Is there away way you can post a picture of this wire? Like he states above the starter is located on the passenger side of the vehicle. It would be pretty hard for the starter wire to reach to the top of the engine. If the wire you are talking about is on the drivers side. It could possibly be the ground wire that needs to be attached to the engine block. It should be bolted on behind the power steering pump on the block. I forgot to attach that same wire once and the truck would not start. I had to jump it to start it. Then once I started it would not charge. So if you could get a picture that would help a lot.
  14. Its been done a lot. most guys do the fog lights there. I did fogs with HIDs in them.
  15. Came across this clean SS on CL today. nice low miles. http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/4725997993.html
  16. good deal. I have had the same problem with my SS once I was driving and got on it it let out a loud pop and started missing bad and had no power. same thing my intercooler piping had slipped off the boot. I was scared I hurt it. I stopped and started inspecting things found the it and was relieved.

    03 Build

Its super easy. if you can drop the trans and put it back in. you can do your own swap. to make it easy get the t-case shaft from Tme2kill. I can give you all the measuments to fab your own cross memeber. you don't even have to cut your factory cross memeber just add to it. I have a wrire up on it some where around here.
  18. Looking good. is he lip white? NIce looking hood. I'm wishing i had never sold mine. sold it for a steel goodmark cowl.
  19. I ran 13lbs on my stock LQ9 for awhile. I have seen guys run higher boost levels on stock 6.0. its that tune that is key. Where are you at now for boost?
  20. bummer it let go on you. but it sounds like a stout build you have now. its looking sweet. you going to make a coffee table from the old block?
  21. This I haven't touched mine in 6 months. Life has got crazy busy. so I know how you fill. its been 2 years for me. really missing it for sure.
  22. Starting to assemble the LS2 motor for my tbss. man LS motors are fun to work on. if you ever get a chance to build one do it. I have put 4 or 5 of these together and it never gets old.

  23. Looks good nice work. Makes me miss my 06 2500HD just don't miss the fuel milage.
  24. Congrats. Both places look nice. I'm sure the extra space will be nice and the extra land will help. At this point in life you will find out how much stuff you really have. moving is the worst. We just bought a new home 5 months ago. We actually down sized. we were in a 3500 Sq foot home.. It was just to much for us to up keep. We live busy lives. We went to 2200 Sq foot so a big jump and its been great. Plus its brand new so everything is new and has a warranty. its not our forever home since it doesn't have a shop Lol. but plan to be here 10 years or so.
