  1. Also make sure that both the trucks battery and the laptops battery are both in good standing and sufficient charge. I had my GMC give me hell just because the key was in the ignition and in the on position/engine off while I made a few changes. (battery was dying on it)

In addition, never flash your tune with the laptop plugged into (charging from) the power port on your truck using a power inverter. This has been confirmed to fry some PCM's using HPT.

  2. I haven't been a fan since the front end change in 08. Just not feeling it. Front ends of Ford and GM are starting to be brother and sister IMHO. I expected a CHANGE, not a polish of a previous platform. I want tech info on the engines before I can totally give a full opinion.

Hank, I am looking forward to the new vettes as well since they claim only like 2 parts are the same as the last one. We shall see...

  3. Yep, you need the full HPT suite (scanner and tuner package). It is your call if you want the "Pro" version or not. For what you want to do, the pro isn't necessary so you can save a couple of bucks there. In order to flash your new tune, you will need to commit 2 credits (of your 6) to your VIN. Your tuner will also need to send you an unlocked tune file.

  4. Well we were tuning it and didn't have the wideband hooked up yet. That wideband monitoring makes a huge difference in tuning correct??

Regardless what anyone says, you CANNOT tune the Pe (boosted) area of your airmass tables without a wideband. Best you can do is guess, based on experience.

  5. the noise from the blower snout is most likely rotor knock from the miss in the engine, ''backlash'' I would be willing to bet you broke off a piece of piston around top ring land.

The torsional isolator in the snout is spring loaded to take some of the "abuse" off the rotor bearings during quick transitions. If you have a mis (or a large cam), the isolator will tend to "bottom out" or compress this spring to the max resulting in a clunking sound.

..., I dont think a 112 by itself can overpower factory pistons if the tune is correct.

Agreed. The tune my friend is absolutely critical. My guess is you were running lean, caused some strong dettonation and cracked off a ring land. You are lucky the piston didn't fall apart causing the rod to punch a hole in the block. With your modifications, you are getting very close to needing larger injectors. I highly suggest a set of dekka 60's.
