  1. It's pretty easy. I just cleaned the lip out good, laid the new one up there and tapped it in lightly using a block of wood, or something to take it in evenly. A PITA, since the cover and pulley have to come off. Get some gasket sealant for the bottom lip of the cover. I've put a couple in my truck, just depends on how I have felt when I've done cam changes. Never had any leak though.
  2. Looks to me like they sold you the wrong one. PCMforless is less than the hypertech.
  3. Maaannnnn... your cam must be blowing raw fuel right out the tailpipe. And probably flaming when he lets off the gas like NASCAR. So I guess we would call them 'Tiki Torches'?! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I like the Flaming Pineapple.
  4. How much is shipping with them? The other guy is only $20.
  5. Damn, I wish I could paid that little. My 2600 was over $700 2 and a half years ago.

  7. Most guys also spraying use the NGK TR-6 plug at .035" gap. One range colder.
  8. Same place I got mine. Gave me a really good price for being the AWD guinea pig.
  9. Well, since you don't have to break into the tank for an '03, I'd say they were more closely related to '04 and above for sure. Mine slid right out, but I don't have all the stuff in my tank as you do. Pretty sure I just removed the filter off of the pickup and the pump pulled right out. Yours not like that?
  10. Interesting. Last I heard they weren't making it. ***Edit - I went to the Hypertech website and found your part number to be associated with these applications: 2002-03 Escalade/Denali 2WD/AWD 5.3/6.0L Also went to the website you mentioned and went in through year/make/model (which a SS is listed as an available model) for Hypertech and it says no products available for this application.
  11. Yeah, I was just kidding on the tank thing. I took mine out by myself also with about 7 gals still in it. Helps to have a floor jack and some plywood. Last time I dropped mine it was half full. Now talk about your fun.
  12. Anyone have experience with braided fuel line and putting on connectors? I knew it wouldn't be the most pleasant experience, but didn't realize how much of a PITA these things are.
  13. If I were you guys I'd get everything else before you decide to get this. I am sure you would get crisper excel, starts, and a little better gas mileage. I would be very skeptical on any other claims. Let the guys over on LS1tech in the f-body world try and dyno before you buy. In fact, some may have already done and gotten results. IMO, it way too expensive and would take quite a bit of time to pay for itself if it improved mileage. JMO.
  14. Fun dropping a tank. What all are you doing?
  15. BumpinSS, A tune may give some help with your problem, but it sounds like there are possibly something else going on or wrong and a tune would be an expensive band-aid that may mask something else that is going on. That is my main point about a tune - it is not what you need for YOUR problem. $250 minimum for a custom tune.
  16. Get some Lucas injector cleaner. Check your air filter. Change plugs, maybe new wires. I would say change O2s, but there are 4 of them and not cheap.
  17. Have you yourself even touched any parameters in your tune in HPt - without direction? FWIW, I get 20-21 on the highway compared to your 18. The most I have seen is 52lb min. I have seen over 1 for grams per cylinder though. I have only gotten my tune to where it is more fun to drive, not maximized yet for power - haven't even touched the wb. There is very much more left in my truck - that I know for sure. Once the FAST is on and I'm done with adding to the motor then I will dedicate the time to max it out. Oh..and nobody knows everything about tuning.
  18. They definitely did the right thing A good dealership in my book.
  19. sorry to bust your bubble but a good custom tune will help with mileage. it does sound like he does have other problems thou <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't have a bubble. Did Zippy tune you for mileage? Did you consider mileage for a tune? Did you buy HPt thinking it was going to improve your mileage? Nevermind, you were the one thinking a 408 was going to improve your mileage. Does any tuner advertise better mileage? Some may. It will not happen though. I will say that tuning may not make it any worse. The best it can do is lean you out some since the stock tune is so rich. That will not make any drastic differences in mileage though. I guess if the avg person getting a custom tune was getting it for that reason, but 99.99% get tuned for performance and drive it like they paid for just that. Mileage is usually a secondary thought for most performance minded people.
  20. Well....custom tunes are not known for mileage. I would scratch that idea if that is what you want. How many miles does your truck have? Synthetic oil, a clean air filter, good working O2s, injector cleaner etc... Are you getting this info from the dic, or manually figuring? It just doesn't sound right. Even I get better than that.
  21. You have to go under the Controls section, not dtcs. Do you need to do a relearn?
  22. Shift points are one thing, but I think if you have a Hypertech and a SS, chances are your Hypertech is for the LQ4 6.0L, not LQ9. Unless of course, the Hypertech is now out for a SS. Last word I heard they weren't making it because of the high CR of the LQ9.
  23. No, you don't need to. It just takes one a few different available methods for keeping the valves up once the locks have been removed.
