Thanks for the info, this was really helpful for me finding a place to mount a hood switch. In a million years, I would've never thought to mount it at the back by the brace. Do you by any change have any ideas on where to mount a "hood" switch on the tailgate? I can't find any places where tailgate would actually contact the bed enough to work.

Do your headers not have flange connectors, where it bolts up to the exhaust with 3 bolts and squishes a gasket in between to prevent leaks? Or is the physical header leaking where all the pipes come in to the collector? Sorry, but I don't exactly understand what you're saying. Exhaust leaks can kill mpg IF fresh air is getting to the upstream o2's and telling it to richen up. The connection between the header and catback should look something like this.
