  1. Why do you think a drum helps with towing? I'd rather have discs for towing, you need good brakes on the back when you're towing, IMO.
  2. Why didn't you check the vin yourself if you know it? You know, just to make sure. 3.73s without a g80 is interesting.
  3. How you know it doesn't have a g80, most silverados did have that.
  4. No, the AMP is not tied to anything really. However, the chimes and onstar do run THROUGH it so this means that you need to hook the remote wire that is hooked to the bose amp(pink) to the remote on your aftermarket amp to keep the chimes working when the vehicle is off. Because the stock HU will turn the aftermarket amp on and pass the chimes through it just like it would the bose amp even when the truck is off. And being that the bose amp is supposed to receive low level output from the HU, it's not a good idea to just hook an aftermarket head unit straight to the bose amp without using the adapter that plugs into the aftermarkets rca outputs to feed the amp low levels. Keep in mind the bose amp outputs 18 watts rms on each of its 6 channels, whereas a aftermarket HU probably outputs 28 RMS to each of it's four channels.
  5. Change it yourself and keep the service records for as long as the vehicle is in warranty.
  6. That's something. She better use jackstands next time. But at least she's keeping those electrical contacts clean.
  7. He sure thinks it's worth a lot with all that crap and that regular chrome grille. Kbb.com says it's worth 22k.
  8. Mercedes, the only car with dual hood latches. Or that's what's the salesman told us when we bought ours along with a bunch of other stuff(crap). But, that's a hell of a car, especially with sc and pano roof.
  9. No. All were ext. cab and had the lq9 6.0l. And they were all of the gmt-800 platform. Edit: They also only came in the colors red, blue, and black for 03-04, then blue was substituted with silver metallic in 05+.
  10. Yeah, the texas edition's without cladding look pretty badass.
  11. Uh, yeah, GM dexcool rated coolant...... Brand is not important.
  12. Pretty sure the vho/v-max rims are chrome plated just like the ss rims.
  13. 200-210 is perfect, it should run about middle range on the gauge. A coolant flush never hurts.
  14. That's what it's supposed to do....... Reach operating temp as fast as possible and then stay there. DO NOT do a 160 thermostat on an otherwise stock truck, a 180 at most, but there's really no logic to doing that without any supporting mods.
  15. I mean damn, 18 dollars for one plug. You know all they have to do is make a spark. There's no magical plug out there. Coppers are the best performance wise, iridiums have a long lifetime. Platinums are in between and need to be gapped bigger to have the same firing voltage. I paid around 20 dollars four all 8 of my platinum plugs I'm running.
  16. Hahaha, yeah, you're definitely not gonna find a bullbar on anyone's truck here.
  17. Here's a diagram off the bose system, that might help. Diagram.
  18. SQ=Sound Quality. Most all amps out there are 4 ohm stable. You'll need a 4 channel amp as well as a mono block or similar to push the sub, hopefully not the bose one. The bose system has one 6-channel amp. 1 channel for each speaker in the doors(tweeters belong to each front door respectively) and then two channels for the dual voice coil sub, bose uses. Just leave the tweets hooked up and don't even touch them, unless you decide to use component speakers instead of coaxials.
  19. The resistance of the voice coil, usually 4 ohms on aftermarket speakers, and 8 ohms for cheap stock speakers and I THINK the bose uses 5 ohms. And I wouldn't mess with the tweets unless you were doing an all out SQ system install.
  20. Umm....of course most circuit boards are actually made using water as part of the manufacturing process. Good quality electronics can get wet and then be dried out and go on their mary way. It's the ingredients in pop like salt and sugar that introduces resistances inside the amp even when it's dried out, the sticky stuff left behind will keep it from functioning. Granted the pop COULD have killed it, if you get that gunk out of there it just MAY work again. And yeah adding an amp to a bose truck is cake, you already have low level outputs coming from the factory hu on those. You just need a bose amp wiring diagram and you can do it no problem. Keep in mind you will need to replace the bose speakers with aftermarket ones as well being that they have some crazy stupid impedance.
