  1. Yeah I would say I do(but not full exhaust, stock pipes with magnaflow muffler welded in). This is where the corsa exhaust really shines....but I believe the stock pipes with as new muffler support more hp. If you like I can try to get a normal driving in cab video for you. Or look up my screen name on you tube and there is vid of the speedo that you can hear some in cab cruise noise. Bare in mind I'm one of those of guys that would wear ear plugs in the cab if it ment I could pull 5 extra hp. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
  2. i think it looks pretty cool, and a good discription of how you did it for any one else interested in it. Mods watching as promised in another topic, we will be making sure our new member gets a clean thread for himself and all interested
  3. Got me there. Home computer is gone. And modding from a phone or ipad sucks. Good call Moved Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
  4. I have my reasons, of which may be opinion, but they have worked for me. And I guess I don't need l92 heads to be the fastest.....because....ummm....I am the fastest using my cathedral port head......by a damn long shot, oh yeah and I built the second fastest SSS na stock cube motor using a cathedral port head....so prove me wrong and build a stock cubic inch motor to beat me with a l92 head. I have done my research, a lot, and I choose cathedral port heads. Even if my reasoning is based on better/easier cam selection. Or even possible valve shrouding on our bore motors. I'm not saying the 439 lsx I plan on building some day will not use all pro heads or a ported ls7 but for a stock cubed na build I have a firm opinion, unless building on a tight budget. Then I would use them, but still not like it. If your expressed opinion of this web site is true, you should leave.
  5. Even though this is a new member, rules still apply. Please be courteous to the seller by not clogging up his thread with negative comments about his asking price. I would however encourage the seller to provide pictures of the truck, a FULL mod list, and being a new member asking for that amount of money a credential for members to judge character by. Possible good standing on another board, verified PayPal, a known and respected ss.com member to vouch for you/truck Negative comments are being removed from post Brad
  6. Glad you made the deal, now cruise down here for a lunch meet and maybe some dyno or racing
  7. I'm one of few that does not like the l92 heads, I hate sounding like I'm bucking new technology, but I just don't see the results from them that I and others have made through cathedral port heads. And I guess I can't say there are bad, and I understand why gm is using them....but I still just don't have a warm fuzzy feeling about them being the right choice for a guy looking to make some power. But my point is. On a dished piston motor, why sacrifice the compression with a stock l92 head? You can easily run 11.4 on 93 so why give up all that hp, ability to pull through a tighter converter, and ability to tame a larger cam down? Have you thought about ported 243, 799 or even ported 5.3l heads? Or at the very least decking the l92 heads, although I have no idea what ptv clearance you have with "x" cam and "y" cc chamber heads with "z" cam on a Lq4 piston. Heads are the key to making great power, from flow numbers to the chamber design being good enough to handle more advance so spend your money here. Depending on final head cc choice, I would consider a thinner cometic head gasket as well

  10. I've always wanted to do a dyno and track day meet up here....
  11. What's the cr on the motor? What tire size? Stock rims? Are you going to dyno it?
  12. Zippy has tuned so many trucks with very similar mods that he can just overwrite your current tune with an all new performance tune, or he has stock tunes to....but it makes no sense to go back to stock. However, he always goes through tunes and makes them custom for you and your preferences....based on his base tunes not what someone else has started/done. You'll never see any part of your old tune again and get a great tune for your truck. You'll have to ask him about his update policy, but I know you never pay for the full price tune again. Truth be told any good tuner, and certainly black bear, will make you a new custom tune, not built off your existing tune. But I am personally biased to zippy as he has put my truck where it is today and is a close personal friend to boot.
  13. Where is the truck located Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
  14. Those are 5.3 heads. 61cc ls6 = sodium filled valves 243 ls2= regular valved 243 799 also same as 243 ls2 but rougher casting from what i know have to know the year of the 5.7 to make sure they are not like a 241 casting number or something like that Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
  15. Welcome to the site from West Bend. Where in WI are you? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
  16. Any dyno time Dan? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2

  18. You don't need to deck the 243 heads at all, they already have a 65cc chamber which will raise your compression over our stock 71cc heads. If you deck another .030 off your looking at about another 6cc off the heads bringing you into 5.3l head territory. Unless your chasing max hp with a larger cam just leave the deck alone. Personally I wouldn't waste the time changing heads with out having them ported by a reputable ls shop. But to each their own. That cam is to small IMO to be worth the time and money involved. But with emissions and your personal opinion....to each their own. You can also look into 799 heads. They are 243 copies from a different foundry and have a rougher casting but are otherwise the same and go for less money
  19. I'm going on three times...and I used loctite every time. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
  20. Check gap from flex plate mounting lug to converter lug should be like .093 - .1875 I think. Clean bolt and converter threads with degreaser. Check to make sure bolts don't bottom out in converter. Use red lock tight. I choose to let the truck sit for 12 hours or so after install to make sure lock tight is set. 21. I WILL be cleaning this thread up and any post not on topic from this point on. This is not the doing of one person, BOTH guys need to back off. If your post got deleted, it may have been it just wasn't on topic, not that there was a site rule broken. If you feel your post should not have been deleted, please contact me through a PM. If anyone has a problem with a member, please contact myself or any mods/admin through a PM and i/we will take it to all the mods for a group decision. However, as of right now, i only see two guys who can't just not reply to anothers posts, and nothing wrong outside of that. Of coarse, any issues/names will stay within the mod group and will never be made public.
  22. Looking forward to the dyno results. Bet you still had blast even spinning the tires Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
