  1. I was told that the dots were for push start and the turbins are pull start.
  2. Those two mods will probably give you 25-35hp. They are the first things that most people do to their trucks. If you are gonna drive it daily and want a fairly stock feel then go that route. You will probably pick up 1-1.5 mpg as well. Dave
  3. I paid $500 to have my El camino frame and every piece of the undercarriage blasted and powder coated. You can see why I'm skeptical about $300 for one small piece. As for the screw it yourself kit I guess if you can't figure it out then pay somebody. Dave
  4. I agree it sucks. Unfortunately if your Union is as powerful as mine you will get diddley squat. Maybe the company will promise "it'll never happen again" (till next time). I feel for you but the Union thing is a catch 22 any more. I'm a union member and I recently lost a grieveance that the Union VP told me was a "sure thing" and I lost. He then recanted and said the company was right. Good Luck. Dave
  5. Powder coating $300? Wow! You can buy a kit from Eastwood company for $100 and do it yourself. I don't think there are any gaskets but anerobic gasket sealer is used instead. Powder coat colors are as numerous as paint colors, I have even seen glow in the dark and chrome. Look around on the GTP sites cause I think the eaton blowers are all about the same parts wise. Dave
  6. You may do okay but I would think a quad may be easier to sell. I had a nearly mint 79 4X4 with a ton of lift and 38's , slick paint job, etc. I got 5500 for it. I think the truck in the pic should bring $2500-$3000 easy. Also just about every engine I have seen that wasn't bolted into a car has 60K miles on it. I seems that the miles mysteriously roll back when you remove the engine from the car. Good Luck Dave
  7. You are dead to me...I fart in your general direction Dave
  8. My truck(03 AWD) with me (250lbs), my 2 10inch subs and amp, tonneau cover, fiberglass hood, 3/4 tank of gas, radix supercharger, and nothing removed to save weight is 5750lbs. Three tons of fun!! Dave
  9. Unless I'm mistaken the Chevy dealer sells silicone in either a can or a tube for the purpose of lubricating the weatherstripping. I know they used to anyway and that it was advertised in the back of owners' manuals. Dave
  10. Damn just my luck. I never open them anyway but I really hate to silicone them closed. I guess I'll throw 35 into the wind and try that e-bay deal. Dave
  11. First before I get berated I did use the search function but there are way too many topics to look thru them all. My question is about the aftermarket latches on ebay . After reading the sellers feedback I noticed that someone said these latches were available at the dealer. Also since I am out of warranty I was wondering if they are resealing the windows as a recall or do I have to pay since the warranty is over? Thanks!! If not then I guess I will try the latches and some vasoline like Mr P. Dave
  12. Unless you spray meth or have one bad ass intercooler then you're only gonna be able to run 17-18 degrees. On a LQ9 any more with that much boost and you're asking for trouble. Dave
  13. I doubt youhave carbon after 10k miles. On your scan gauge watch timing advance and KR. See how much advance you have when it pulls timing. You may just be punching it when the timing is way advanced and that's where your KR is coming from. Maybe you got a bad tank of gas or how old is the gas in the truck? I feel for you guys that can only get 91 we get 93 and Sunoco has 94. Dave
  14. Are you getting KR when you punch it from a roll or from a dead stop? When you punch it from a roll the computer pulls timing to limit the torque output of the engine (torque management). If you are getting it from a dead stop I'd be more worried. Carbon build up can raise your engine's compression and cause detonation...sea foam or GM top engine cleaner will fix that though. Dave
  15. Man I feel for you a fellow brother in blue. Here locally some kid tried to steal a guys car that was warming up in the driveway. The guy tried to stop him and the kid "tried to run over him" BLAM BLAM BLAM dead kid over a $1500 Ford Taurus. What a shame you didn't catch those bastards. Dave
  16. I agree...sounds like a tuning issue. If the throttle is open more then line pressure goes up. Also that torque management makes wierd stuff happen. Dave
  17. Hood clearance on Firebirds and Camaros sucks. You just about have to run a cowl hood to run a high rise intake and Holley carb. I really want to do a LS1 in my Chevelle. keep us posted. Dave
  18. I have never seen anything on American Idol since I have a penis.
  19. So true...How often do you hear the arguement that "They're built here" and if this letter is correct then only 8% of the parts are produced here? Wow reading this letter I can't help but think of liberals for some reason. Maybe due to the fact that they will do retarded things like spend $160,000 per job in tax benefits. I have always been brand loyal to Chevrolet and have only owned 1 non GM a Ford Escort that came with my wife 2 head gaskets later I sold the POS. Later Dave
  20. That sure dosen't sound good...the solid lift cams I have installed aren't that loud when cold. I guess the oil pump O-ring didn't help. It kind of sucks that you can't run it with one of the valve covers off to check things out. With as much as you have went through I would be tempted to put a smaller cam in. Another idea is to install a couple of those low tension valve clearence checking springs. Do that on a pair of valves to see what kind of clearence you have in the valvetrain. Did the guy you bought it from have any noise issues? I'm guessing it dosen't get any quieter as you rev it? Dave
  21. It's tax time...hopefully I can make a sale. If not next Tuesday I'm gonna price everything out individually and go from there. I have had lots of interest in the short block and the lifters, timing chain, and oil pump are still in their original packages so I hope to have some luck that way if not as a complete unit. Dave
  22. Castrol Syntec 10w-30 and either the HP-2006 K&N filter or the PF61 (If I remember correctly) AC Delco filter. I never let the oil go over 3000 miles if I can help it. I figure with the supercharger and my lead foot the engine needs all the help it can get. Dave
  23. I think Jim was just scared that he was gonna get another ticket or something. He didn't even realize that he had the officer's copy of the ticket. Also I'm sure he got his license got suspended for failure to show proof of insurance. I'm not familiar with Kansas law but in Ohio I think that the 2nd time you fail to show proof when stopped you are automatically suspended. I don't think he is looking to have the cop prosecuted or anything but I think what he did was wrong. If he is willing to resort to tresspassing and thievery then how good of a cop could he be? I'm pretty sure he's gonna come out ok on this I'll have to wait and see. Later Dave
  24. First off I wanna start by saying that I am not trying to offend any of the great, honest, hard working and honorable police officers but here's the story: My wife's cousin(we'll can him Jim) who is 19 and lives in a small Kansas town was pulled over the other day. He got a ticket because he did not have proof of insurance with him. He does have insurance but had a new car and didn't have the card yet. Here is where the story gets good. It seems the incompotent Roscoe P. Coletrain of a cop gave Jim both copies of the ticket. Jim being young and inexperienced and a honest guy didn't realize this at the time and went home. A couple of hours later Roscoe shows up at Jim's house and knocks on the door. Jim does not answer the door so Roscoe proceeds to get inside of Jim's car and retrieve the copy of the ticket he needed to process the infraction. Jim reported this to someone...the details I got were a little sketchy...and he was told not to worry about it. Well Jim got a letter in the mail saying his license was gonna be suspended if he didn't provide proof he had insurance. The next day he got another letter saying his liscense is suspended and now requires a reinstatement fee and blah blah blah. I think that the cop is a thief and should be prosecuted for tresspasing at the very least. The way I look at it if you F up you gotta be a man and accept the consequences...The cop expected Jim to. I think this is dirty and low down and this cop should be fired for his tresspassing and thievery. Later Dave
