Sinr98 Build Part 1

Please forgive my nieve question or clogging up your thread but how eaxctly does it work? I know that Hydroboost is to make it possible so you can only activate the front brakes for burnouts (maybe I'm wrong lol all together). Is there a switch you press that only sends brake pressure to fronts? Or does the master do the work? I'd be interested to know how this all works. I love the pic with your son smiling too btw. Nice truck as well!

Your thinking of a line lock, that installs between the master cylinder and front brake lines.I think it bypasses your proportioning valve to lock you fronts up if I am not mistaken.

Hydroboost use the pressure from your power steering pump instead of engine vacuum to apply the hold for your brakes.

It is an awesome upgrade for any vacuum operated vehicle IMHO. The stopping power from the hydraulic setup is greatly improved as compared to a vac operated setup. Those with large cams, or forced induction won't have the problem with applying the brakes when coming off boost or a hard pull and trying to stop. Those with stock brakes and vacuum levels will also have no problem stopping. The harder you push the pedal the harder the brakes are applied with the HB brakes, and the effort to brake is so little that you can literally touch the brakes to stop.

Ok since I am holding off for a few months on the engine and drivetrain build: I decided to take a look at the suspension and handling side. I will be doing a custom rear suspension setup when everything else gets done, but for now i'm going to do some little things.

I will be keeping the suspension at stock height as of now, but came across some Hellwig rear adjustable sway bars for it which for the price I got them (brand new) I couldn't pass up. Along with the sway bars I have ordered some Chromoly Heim Joints and Chromoly tubing to make a set of trac bars. They will be similar to Cal-Trac's but with some fabbing differences on my part. I will make the bracket's out of stainless steel as well as all the hardware. As for the front suspension, i'm keeping that stock as of now with the exception of the Energy Suspension Sway bar end links and bar to frame bushings. I will also be working on a set of HD tie rod links, and possibly tubular control arms. More pics will be taken after the parts arrive.

On another project that i'm waiting on parts for is my exhaust. I ordered a 3" cutout, and pipe to put in. I will be cutting my old dual setup off and weld up a Y-pipe right after the cab. Off the Y-pipe will be the e-cutout, running a 3" back to my new Borla, and out the side infront of the rear wheel to a custom made tail pipe and the exhaust tip that I fabbed up in earlier pics.

I was planning on doing the exhaust tonight, but the parts didn't come in today................ :banghead:

Thought I would update this thread.

I have been stock piling parts for the past few years and have decided to do some mild work to the performance of the truck.

I purchased a set of L92's which i'm sending out to have the valves done, surface the deck. To go with the heads I bought the Holley Hi-Ram with the 92mm top, Lunati dual springs, LS7 gold blade throttle body, ARP head studs, LS9 head gaskets, LS2 lifters and trays, ARP balancer bolt, 4 corner steam vent system, 60# SD injectors, Aeromotive stealth fuel pump, Rocker trunion uppgrade, Pat G is specing a cam for it, and I almost forgot... a Nitrous Express direct port system with a stand alone fuel tank i'm in the process of making. I am only planning on running a 100 shot till I can get a motor together that will be able to take boost and a shot. I just sold my extra block and rotating assembly so i'm going to shop around for a short block.

I have a majority of the parts already, but I have the rest on it's way this week.

Pics and updates will progress when it starts............... :jester:

Sounds like its going to be a beast. So with all the new upgrades are you still planning on boosting it? looks like you have a nice pile of parts stocked up. atleast you are able to still drive the truck in the mean time. mine could be down for a few years at this point. it seems like when you start a project there is always more things you find out you want to change. So then it takes even longer. Im finding this out. well keep us posted it should move out pretty good.

Yes I still plan on putting the turbo on. I am in the process of selling my turbo to get a larger one. I am also trying to find a good 4L80e so I can get that done ahead of time. Trying to make up my mind on if I want my regular engine builder to do the short block or have one built by a ls specialist shop. I trust my machinest and he stands behind his work, and he is cheap. After I get a new motor I will put the turbo on with the top end that is going on now.

Got a few goodies over the week. Going to make a few changes already tho. Can is being speced right now and should be getting the info soon.

I started mocking the direct port up and I don't like the location of the nozzles and how much of a PITA it would be to change all 16 jets. I contacted NX about doing a custom spray bar set up on it and it looks like that is the way I will be going. It will also be almost hidden with the exception of the stand alone and some cool looking lines. :)

Here are some of the new arrivals. The heads are at the machine shop now with all the new goodies that go with them to.
