  1. I don't want to clutter up the forum double posting, so I will be update the thread below not this one. If you have an questions comments or concerns please post in the other thread. http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/topic/64830-z06-brake-conversion/
  2. So just an update for anyone interested. The billet blocks are at the machine shop being machined as I type this. Should be done some time this week. Then they are of to get coated. Not sure how busy they are or what turn around is going to be but I would guess no more than a week.
  3. I should be home in a few days and I should have finished brackets in a few weeks give or take. Time frame depends on machinist and plating shop.
  4. Fronts are gone at the moment. Plan on making another run when I get back into town. Its been a while since I looked into this but as far as the 2nd gen CTS-V calipers go, I remember this. The Brembos on the new Camaro SS and 2nd gen CTS-Vare very similar if not the same, except for the mount holes being slightly different sizes. It is my opinion that to make those calipers work with our spindles would require a lot of work. Is it possible? Yes. Nothing is impossible if you really wanted to do it, but I think there are much better options available. The mounting holes on those calipers are way closer to the axle centerline and with the offset of the Silverado rotors, it puts the mounting surface of the caliper in a bad spot.
  5. Depending on a few different factors, should be mid to late July.
  6. I'll let you guys know when I've got an idea when the next run is close to being done.
  7. Sorry, last set is sold. I've had more than a few people email me asking about the brackets recently so I will probably end up making one last run of brackets. But only enough to use up the last of the hardware I have. It will probably be the end of July early August when they are done.
  8. Sorry if I confused anyone, but I only have one front set left but I have more than a few rear sets. I've had more than a couple email saying they want to pay in full or put a deposit down, but yet to have anyone actually send the money. I may end up making more front brackets. I thought I had less hardware for the front kits than I did. When I get home I'll have to inventory the hardware and that will determine how many more I make. If I don't make more brackets, I'm not sure what I'd do with all this metric hardware.
  9. Currently I'm out of town for a few months. But right now I only have one set of fronts left and there are two people that say they want to put a deposit on them for when I get back but neither has sent payment. I honestly wasn't planning on making another run but I've been surprised by the amount of interest lately and I ended up having more hardware than I thought. So I may make another run of them. Not 100% sure either way.
  10. Just a heads up for anyone wanting to do the conversion. I only have four front sets left. I have more than a few rear sets. I may end up after all making more front brackets. I was not planning on making any more but I have more hardware for the front kits than I believed I did. When I bought everything from dkkustoms he had already purchased the hardware and I misunderstood how much there really was. If I do make more it won't be for a couple of months and unless I have several pre-orders I'm still not sure I will make more . I've got a lot on my plate right now and just don't have the time or the money to have wrapped up in these brackets.
  11. I'd compare the cost of a new pan to the amount of time/work that removing the screwed up bung will take. Might be better off starting over.
  12. Be careful buying a used converter. You never know what the previous owner has done to it.
  13. He isn't on here much anymore. He is more on pefermancetrucks.net but his number is in his signature of every post he made Copied from his signature- "Superstreet performance 651-226-3109 thats me!" $2300 for calipers and rotors is a pretty good price. Last I heard Ray aka supersub, was selling all four rotors for $1100 shipped. If you found the calipers and rotors shipped for $2300, that puts the calipers around $1100 price range which is a little under the norm. But the question I would ask, do they come with the guide pins? That is how some sellers get you. $1200 for pads and pins is a good deal. Last I looked into them, the average price for just the calipers and pins was around $1200. If pads are included, that saves you cash right there. Something isn't right there. The part numbers I posted are for one-piece rotors. Baer makes a two-piece front rotor that works with the Z06 conversion but they cost $1100.
  14. Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't even know this thread existed any more. If anyone has anymore questions, they should post in the how-to. That way others that have the same questions or concerns might see. Yeah, I bought all of Dkkustoms stuff, already made brackets, program, raw materials, etc. I have the release to protect me but more so so that people will understand that your brakes are not something to be taken lightly. Also, like most services and upgrades, you have to periodically check torque specs, make sure nothing is rubbing, etc. Make sure you don't having anything loose in your truck or it will go flying.
  15. Sorry, I've got a lot of time and money invested in just the brackets and hardware. I'd have to take a loan out to stock calipers and rotors. Also, some prefer to save a few bucks on calipers and buy used. Exactly Took the words out of my mouth. Piece meal projects as I call them. While I don't have any side by side comparisons, I know this. Most Corvette guys that track their cars ditch the stock stuff and upgrade their brake system. While the Z06 caliper conversion is a good upgrade, I can honestly say it is not the best. Its way better than the undersized stock stuff, but it is not the best. The best bang for the buck as far as single use/panic stops go, hydroboost is the answer. But if you are pushing your brakes hard racing or stopping a heavy load, you will cook your brakes faster with a hydroboost. Remember, the Z06 conversion isn't just about the calipers. You are also using a larger and better cooling rotor. I'd bet the dealership price would be higher than online plus shipping. Also, the stock pads are not that popular for a reason. There are more than a few better options. Can't say anything about clamping power, but I do know/agree about pad wear. On calipers with same size pistons, the leading piston pads always wear out sooner. As stated above, The best bang for the buck as far as single use/panic stops go, hydroboost is the answer. But if you are pushing your brakes hard racing or stopping a heavy load, you will cook your brakes faster with a hydroboost. Remember, the Z06 conversion isn't just about the calipers. You are also using a larger and better cooling rotor. If you have stock spindles, have basic hand tools and only slightly mechanically inclined, you can do the conversion. The front is really easy. So easy, I get emails from people asking if they did something wrong. It only takes a little longer than a normal brake job. Bleeding them takes longer than anything. For the rears, its not hard. Just have to take your time and trim a little at a time. It is more labor intensive, but by no means hard.
  16. Got your email and replied. Thanks.
  17. I'll take the cam if you can send me some pics. [email protected] I'll even meet up with you so you don't have to ship it.
  18. I've got a buddy that has taught me far more than I ever wanted to know about fighting speeding tickets. Funny thing is, after all the research he has done, learned and successfully fought tickets he doesn't bother doing it any more. The short answer is to just call a place called The Ticket Clinic. The office I call/go to is in Universal City near Universal Studios. You pay them $199 I think it is and they fight your ticket. I've used them a few times but my buddy has one hell of a speeding problem and uses them every other month practically. They have had all my tickets dismissed I used them for. The closes thing to "losing" a case I know of, is my buddies cell phone ticket. You don't get any points with a cell phone ticket but it still shows up on your record and supposedly makes your insurance go way up. So my buddy called them about the cell phone ticket. It was t thrown out, he paid the ticket fine, but nothing showed up on his record. Well worth the $199 to keep insurance rates low. To answer your trial by declaration question, if you do TBD and lose, you can file trial de novo aka new trial in which you actually appear before a judge. So you don't totally blow your chances of driving school. Also, you can fight, lose and still get driving school. But as stated above, just call The Ticket Clinic. Unless you make minimum wage, you will lose money taking time off work to go to your arraignment and then to your court date. That's two days minimum if the cop shows up to the trial. The judge can reschedule if the cop doesn't show for the trial. Now if they don't show for the arraignment, you win by default.
  19. I have a buddy with a BSER roll pan sitting in his garage that needs to go on. PM me with an offer and I'll see if he wants to sell the bumper. FYI his truck is black and he is in the San Fernando Valley.
  20. The theory behind it makes sense. I can't say I know anyone that's done it but for a low buck mod and totally reversible it can't hurt.
  21. I used to work with a guy who's previous job was x-raying very large items for JPL/Rocketdyne. Sometimes they were contracted by other businesses that needed x-rays of various things and Ford was one of them. I don't remember when he said it happened but, Ford had him X-ray a couple hundred transmissions. The found a flaw somewhere in a majority of the transmissions but it was determined that it was cheaper to deal with the problems later than to go through every transmission. Gotta love Ford Quality
  22. Can't vouch for using helper bags but I do know that when you build a link setup on any vehicle you figure your ride height and build around that. If I were you, I'd build it so you can move your coilovers up or down so when you're not towing you can level it out. If you need to tow/haul, lift the truck, not the axle and you can adjust the mounting heights with just a few bolts. It makes the install a little more complicated but nothing major.
  23. Like I said, I don't know the part numbers, but everything I've read on the Corvette forums, the pics I've seen of them, and even on wikipedia say they are the same just a different color. Found this on google. Somebody got a sweet deal. http://m.corvettefor...-sale-sold.html
