  1. I've been shopping hot-and-heavy for the past 2 months. I've only seen a couple of ISS. Your's compares to ones I've seen in the $25K range. Just a ballpark. It's worth whatever someone will pay. Put it out there...

I know quite a bit about these trucks, there is one for sale in sacramento at a dealership, they want 25k for it and it has 101k miles on the odometer, that is just insane and without a certificate of authenticity saying what truck number it is.. KBB has it right on the money at 16-17k. i suppose it is worth what someone would pay for it as is anything but a fair and right price would be around there.. there was a forum member named tony selling one 2 years ago on here with a certificate saying it was truck number 543 and he was selling it for 17k with 90k on the meter i believe..

Hi all, I read posts here occasionally but I rarely post, but I've decided to sell my 06 Intimidator SS. I know Kelly bluebook shows one value, but a vehicle that is difficult or rare to find would be worth more I'd think.

I cant find any SS Intimidators for sale anywhere doing a google search to judge prices. Anyway mines a genuine Intimidator SS in great shape, some small scratches and paint chips from being 12 yrs old, with only 88k miles on it. Any help in getting a ballpark value on these trucks would be appreciated. I'm in Northern CA. I attached a couple pics but can add more on request

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I am in Oakland and am interested, i sent you a message, check your inbox

  2. I decided on the 05' but something happened. yesterday i negotiated the price but later in the night, the manager called me and told me that the truck was in the shop and he didn't know why.. if it were something major he would have been notified is what he told me and that he would call me today morning to let me know what it was and he told me it was smog related.. i checked the history of the vehicle through Carfax and it basically disappeared off the grid.. no yearly registration renewal, no emissions testing, nothing... this seems fishy to me unless the truck was in mexico since it's so close to the border

  3. Dude it looks pretty good. Looks about like my Carolina truck. If it was truly rusted you would see rust all over the frame. Looks pretty clean to me....

Hmm maybe so, its just the way i see it, with the other truck it's a 1 owner California truck with less mileage, put it this way for a 12-13 year old truck i'd get more bang for my buck with the 05' as opposed to the 06' and i would have peace of mind that it's not rusted underneath and spreading over time..

  4. here's another one and although more promising with less mileage and probably a rust free truck with it having had only 1 owner, you can say its a gem however i am driving from Oakland and the 06' is in Santa Ana which is roughly 6 hours, the other red 05' is by the Tijuana border which is 2-3 more hours away.. hmmm :uhoh:

  5. Truck looks modified in some way. Something about the exhaust doesn’t look right and there are some installed switches by the button for the bed light. Even with low mileage it’s still a 12 year old truck, price seems high. Best of luck.

seems fine to me  but the real question is if you guys were in my shoes and everything mechanically checked out and the price went down a bit would you pull the trigger considering the bit of rust that is underneath?

  6. I doubt the dealer will budge much.... they just dropped a grand. It depends how bad they want to move it. They are in the business of selling not holding onto them.....

Point out the flaws and see if you can use that to negotiate with them.

Yeah but they've had it for a while now so i don't see why not, on the other hand i am still wondering why they've had it for so long? Thanks yeah that was my initial plan, they should budge, wish me luck

  7. Ok guys so I am planning to go see the truck in the next day or two, this is my first time getting involved with a dealer for a car purchase, any advice? I noticed they just lowered the price of the truck from 20,988 to 19,988 so that means they're flexible and i can chop the price down even more.. What is the truck worth in the shape it's in to you guys, assuming it runs flawless? I would take into consideration that i am going to have to put tires that's 600, then tint, that's another 200, and exhaust maybe another 300-400. let me know as this could be it and i could possibly be back in an SS

  8. I will say nice low mileage SSS are hard to come by. The place that has it for sale has at least a few SSS in stock at any given time so they know what the market is. When I bought mine 3 years ago I tried to get the Ford dealer I found it at to budge on the price and they didnt. I have always been of the opinion that you should buy the best example you can find. As I have learned in life you always seem to spend a little more but if in the end you get what you want then its worth it in the long run. My truck has had zero issues in the last three years and I couldnt have been happier with it even though I spent more than I wanted initially......

True, it does payoff in the end but i would expect that they would budge at least a bit on the price if i am there in person as opposed to over the phone, the grand total with taxes and license and registration fees would come out to 23,500 at their price but i have a 5k down payment.. I would really need to test drive it though, Santa Ana's about 6 hours from where I live so i would need to obviously go early and ask for the day off at work.. hopefully when i see the truck in person that everything looks good because this is the first low mileage SS that I've seen even in California in a while

  9. *UPDATE

I called the dealer just now and they said that they are "firm on price" lets see a list of the defects: light scratch on passenger side mirror, looks like a hole or dent on the bottom right front bumper, cheap tires, cheap reproduction wheels, light rust on the undercarriage and the brake lines do not look rusted. This on top of the fact that i haven't even test drove it yet, but according to them, the truck passed their "62 point inspection" but i know better than to trust a sleazy dealership.. all the stuff i listed is minor stuff of course and fixable and in my opinion they should budge at least a bit, i'm having mixed emotions on this one wether to pull the trigger or not? :uhoh:

  10. Haha i wish man, I'm not willing to go out of state and texas is a few states away.. Thanks anyways, the truck looks nice! GLWTS

rust? i dont see any rust :happysad:

serious talk tho thats what a 3 year old truck looks like over here. i wouldnt worry at all. check the brake lines

WIll do, gonna probably go see it in the next few days, i am still curious to know as to why it's been on cargurus so long and hasn't sold  pretty solid looking truck with low mileage, beats me

  11. If you're really interested in that truck I would beat them up a bit. I see some paint flaws, front bumper cover damage, really cheap tires, and the wheels look like repros. Not trying to nitpick it as it does look like a nice truck with probably accurate miles on it, but they've gotta be negotiable on it IMO.

    Richard

Yeah i figured they were on the high end of their price for all the little small stuff that i was noticing, i would estimate maybe 18k? That's my opinion about what it's worth, either way if it does happen to go through i am going to be paying 20k+ with sales tax, dealer fees, etc.

Ha mine has the sunroof and doesnt have the steering wheel controls. I actually dont likesunroofs..... It looks like a copy of mine. That place always has SSS in stock so they must scour the country for them. I would look at it this way it has low miles so it likely it saw little to any of salt roads. It just looks like surface rust that could even be caused by living by the ocean. I agree with Richard it has some flaws and what look like repo center caps for sure and maybe the wheels? They have had it a while so they might be willing to deal some.

Yeah i was starting to think that it might have a major imperfection because they've had it for so long.. looked it up through Carfax and everything checks out  we will see what happens, to me it honestly seems like a race against time because low mileage SS trucks are starting to become very rare, it's kind of like i'm in a hurry to just pull the trigger on any low mileage SS i see that is within my state

  12. Is it this one?

If it is it looks good. Another way to tel is look at the rotors and drums. From the pics and what I can see I dont see any rust on them. I love my red 06 I looked hard for one. Definitely dont see many......

Yes Matt it's that one, basically has every option except a sunroof.. which would be nice but i guess you can't have it all right? Anyways i just wanted to get some opinions as to wether it was a good deal or not and if the rust on the frame isn't something that's going to affect me and give me problems in the long run..

  13. The real indicator would be: what do the brake lines look like...

    Richard

Yeah i would need to see it up close and really examine it, truck has 52k miles dealer wants 20k its a red 06' so pretty rare

It doesnt look that bad to me.... if you dont like it dont buy it. Lol

Haha I know its common sense but I'm just itching to get back into a SS since i had mine for such a short time unfortunately :( i was trying to find an 05' or 06' with low miles in either black or red, not really a big fan of silver birch

  14. I'm again in the market for an SS truck and would like some thoughts on one that I found, I am in California so yeah i found a truck but the truck is not that close to me and i did a Carfax and found out that the truck came from Utah, which i know is a snow state so i was of course expecting there to be some rust but Idk it kind of turned me off it's a slight of rust but i see that the most noticeable part is on the frame in picture , any thoughts? Tried resizing the photos don't know if you'll be able to see them in detail, Thanks!

  15. I think we need more definition on what vehicle your doing exhaust on. Is this going on a 96-99 Silverado (or whatever other years the 5.7 Vortec was offered)?

Yes it is a 97' C1500 pickup truck with a 5.7 vortec I called many muffler shops to get insight on it and they said that it's no big deal that I ordered a 2 1/4 muffler, they can just expand it to 2 1/2 if I opt to go that route.. but I have a mostly stock motor so idk which would be better or sound better using one dual in/out muffler, the 2 1/4" or the 2 1/2"?

If you aren't referring to an 03-07c Silverado SS then ignore everything I said. I think it was safe for everyone responding to assume since you're bringing this up on a Silverado SS forum, that you were asking this question about a Silverado SS.

Yeah sorry about that I use to own an '03 but no longer do, I still frequent the forum due to the many knowledgeable people here on GM vehicles..

  16. Yup, scrap your idea and go with mine.

wouldn't 3" outlets be overkill though, on a 5.7 vortec? I mean those things are only producing 255hp.. I custom ordered the muffler through their website I mean I don't know much about exhaust systems, don't know wether the inlets are supposed to be larger than the outlets or vice versa.. if I did screw up, the muffler is arriving tomorrow and don't know if it's too late to cancel my order and fix it..

  17. 2 in 2 out with 2.5" to 3" coming out just in front of the tire with 14" long 4" or 3" polished tips cut at a 45 side by side. I have the same setup aside from a single muffler I have two and it sounds amazing with the perfect drone in the cab and gets a lot of compliments. The length of the tip is so they can't see where the Crome stops and goes to pipe. Just my two cents

Thanks sounds like a sweet setup! Ended up ordering the Spintech 9000 Super Pro Street with 2 1/4" dual inlets and 2 1/4" Outlets since the guy at the muffler shop said that the OBS trucks came with 2 1/4" piping from the factory. Didn't opt to go true dual because the mufflers would have to go horizontal instead of vertical plus I would lose a sweet exhaust tone.. Now what is a good price to weld a muffler on?
