  1. What do you mean by "think way out in advance"? I'm sure Nelson performance didn't just wake up and say lets do a twint urbo ZR1. I'm sure they had a customer, with a lot of money, who said he wanted one. I'm fairly certain the build was planned, but moved quicker than normal because cash can make a project like that move fast. Often times, our builds take long because we do the work ourselves on the side and are limited to piecing a kit together financially. Chase for example, he could have had his truck done months ago with his twin turbo build had he just taken it to a performance shop, handed them the truck and $50k and said see you in a month. Happens at Katech and Lingenfelter frequently. Also, the ZR1 has been out on the streets now for almost a year right? However, I do get your point that its almost like taking a '63 vette split window with matching numbers and all original paint, ripping out the SBC, swapping in a 572ci, and tubing it for the strip. With that said, if I had $200k to blow, I would probably just get a Ferrari and skip the vette altogether. Thats the beauty of being an auto performance enthusiast, we are all unique and like different things. Otherwise, all sports cars would have the same motors with the same mods.
  2. I certainly see your point, however, I dont think that supercharger probably could never achieve those power numbers. It has been done to Ford GT's and many others. Heck, Cobra guys go turbo for big power. Even some guys on here are going twin turbo to get the power output desired. I do understand how you feel because it is a limited edition model, but if they can do it, why not? You know the guy has $200k into the car probably.
  3. Just thought I would update this. Father was convicted of 2nd degree murder. Personally, I think it should have been first, but obviously, the jury decided that it was not pre-meditated or planned in advance beyond a reasonable doubt. http://www.freep.com/article/20100401/NEWS...1067/1001/rss01
  4. I'd love a CTS V, but I think a GTO or G8 GT is more my flavor for pricing. I would consider an older V, but just not sold on it. My short list once the SS is gone is: 1. GTO LS2 ( best bang for the buck I can imagine, more comfortable than F-body, will be maggied or head/cammed or both) 2. G8 GT (only 2nd because no manual 6spd and 4 doors) 3. LS6 CTS V (most LS2's are out of my budget) 4. 03 Cobra 5. 00-02 LS1 F-body (low on the list because they are a PITA to work on) 6. C5 LS1 They all have their advantages and disadvantages. It will depend on the DD I pick up too.
  5. Unfortunately Bob, my job is based on a suffering economy. I work in non-profit credit counseling for debt management, housing delinquency, and bankruptcy. However, the company has been around for decades as a 501c3 and is fairly stable. Our business is growing however because of the dire situation for the working folks out there. It is good news though considering everything that is going on.
  6. This is my third promotion in a little over one year with my company. 12% raise. Phenomenal. And to think I was unemployed and on the verge of losing everything just over a year ago. It's amazing what my college degree has done for me since completing it in 2008. And thank god it isn't an April fools joke. I just had to tell someone, anyone, because I'm not allowed to discuss it until next week until the other candidates are notified.
  7. The intercooler for that supercharger is sufficient for itself, but I can't imagine it being efficient enough to cool the compressed air from two turbos. I'm sure it is a nice secondary, but hope they have an air to air on it as well. Either way, gutting a supercharger is not uncommon. Grand Prix GTP L67 owners who have converted to turbo have also just used the supercharger housing as the intake. They would remove the rotors/guts/snout and put a block off plate where the snout attaches. Just that the M90 on the L67 was non-intercooled. Plus, I can see from an asthetic point of view why they would want to keep the supercharger housing with the shroud/cover visible through the hood?
  8. Not bad. A vehicle is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. And if you are happy and its what you wanted...then that is all that matters. On that note though, I paid $22k for my 2003 Black Silverado SS with 15k miles on it as well...that 4 years ago.
  9. http://www.streetfire.net/video/worlds-fir...-zr1_743476.htm Real music starts at 1:10 FYI.
  10. Up for sale is my 2003 Silverado SS. I love this truck and I am not in a huge hurry to sell it. I have had it for sale through word of mouth for a little while. I had an offer on it but the buyer could not get financing due to personal financial issues. I have done my best to keep the truck in the best shape possible, but please realize that it is over 7yrs old with over 100k miles and it was a daily driver. This is not a complete show truck. I make full disclosure and have nothing to hide with this truck. With that said, I built this truck to be a solid formidable performer. I believe I am the second owner as I bought it from a dealership in 2006 that it was traded into. It had 15k miles on it in 4/2006. Right off the bat, that summer it was lightly side swiped at about 5-10mph as someone pulled out of their lane into mine not knowing I was there. The damage was on the drivers side door and the damage was light. It was repaired under insurance and warrantied for life. I have had zero issues with the paint there. There is no rust on the body. The truck was also rear ended by a texting girl who was not paying attention at a stop light. Thankfully I had a bike rack with a $2k mountain bike on it that took the brunt of the hit. Receiver and bumper was ok. Other than that, it has a couple of minor dings, etc from daily driving. However, the truck looks really good for its age. Onto the good stuff. When I bought this truck, I wanted to acheive a goal of low 13's with daily drivability. I followed the Lingenfelter package for their 6.0L trucks and after researching performance sites, I knew the Magnuson Radix was the kit to go with for my needs. Below is a list of parts: - Radix Silver 112 intercooled kit (over $5k. Installed at 44k miles) - 3.25" pulley ~5.5-6psi boost - Pace Setter Long Tube Headers with custom mid pipes (catless) ($300. Installed at 20k miles) - Corsa Sport Exhaust ($800. Installed at 17k miles) - Outlaw CAI ($200. Installed at 15k miles) - Flex-A-Lite Electric fans ($450. Installed at 40kmiles. Fan motors replaced about 15kmiles ago) - Yank SC2600 billet converter ($900. Freshened about 2k miles ago by Yank) - Built 4L65E - red clutch packs, kevlar bands, billet servos, re-worked valve body, Trans Go shift kit, Beast Sunshell. I can provide more on the trans if desired. (over $2k. Freshened about 2k miles ago) - Bilstein shocks ($240. Installed about 10k miles ago) - Patriot fiberglass bed cover (bought with truck. Lock does not function, needs to be replaced, never bothered me) - Carpeted bed rug (bought with truck) - Autometer Boost, Fuel Pressure, and AFR gauges in 3 pillar pod (installed with radix. AFR is asthetic only, not hooked up, never installed wide band, not needed for this level of performance in my opinion) - Zippy tune (now at Leading Edge Performance. Tune installed and monitored by myself with HPTuners which will NOT be included in the sale) The brakes were replaced about 10k miles ago with Napa rotors and pads. I saw no need to go to slotted rotors. Brakes are good. Bilsteins installed at same time. The trans was replaced at 66k miles by a company locally. They put a 2yr 24k mile warranty on it. It lasted about 37k miles before starting to slip. Took it back to them and they pulled and replaced all frictions and inspected the trans for $800 (pretty much FLT does if out of warranty). They stood behind their product. They gave me another 6 month warranty with unlimited miles. I also shipped the converter back to Yank for a cut and clean. So everything is like new and done properly. The front differential was rebuilt at 60k miles and a new transfer case was put in at 66k with the trans build. Everything is up to date or in good shape. I drive the truck to work every day. It is a blast to drive. It is a bit on the loud side for those who happen to be by the passenger side exhaust exit. It makes people jump when started, but it is a pleasure to drive for hours on the freeway with very little drone. Get on it, and it is as mean as it gets sounds wise and will hold its own with most stock performance vehicles. It cuts a nasty 1.8 60ft which is enough to win most 0-60 contests on the street from light to light. Its surprised more than its fair share of vehicles. 13.19@101mph 1.8 60ft It has been to the track 4 times in its life, maybe 15 passes, if that. Once while sueprcharged. It is a cam, injectors, and a 2.9" pulley away from low 12's. I never felt comfortable going to the 2.9" as I was never convinced the radix kit injectors would be sufficient. Maybe I could have gotten a 12.9 out of it with a 3.0", but I was satisfied where it was and things didnt break too often like other trucks I have seen. The common things that always seem to break on these trucks, did break, and I addressed them accordingly. 104k miles approximately. Clean truck. $15,700 Firm
  11. DAM! I don't swing by for a couple of days... All I am going to say is every other forum I frequent has/allows free speech in controlled areas. www.clubgp.com Go take a look and spend 10 minutes in their off-topic section. Even my mountain bike forum I frequent has an "All Politics, All the Time" section. Everyone understands that political comments are made there. People who don't argue politics, go there. The fishing and hunting forum I frequent also has a similar setup. With that being said, rules are rules, and when in someone elses house, one should know and follow the rules whether you agree with them or not. I for one, will be hanging around even after my SSS is long gone. I haven't owned a Grand Prix in years and still visit that forum.
  12. Can you help me identify what year this Corvette is? Wonder what the KBB is?
  13. It could have been any scenario. It could have been stolen, a dealer vehicle, borrowed, etc. Either way, I am sure they will eventually track down the person responsible. Also, one witness in the video says it is a TBSS and you can see the vehicle in the video.
  14. Sounds like a rational plan. Let me know how it works out. I still have to sell my SS. The buyer I had lined up backed out and bought a TBSS instead.
  15. This just happened today near us Detroit guys. It's all over the news up here. This happens too frequently, but thought I would post it only because it was an SS. Hope they catch the driver. http://www.wxyz.com/news/story/Man-Killed-...REQGSU_ZgA.cspx
  16. They are only feeding 3.8L engines. I ran a 3.0" with a ZZP VS cam, which is mild compared to the XP cam from ZZP and it never fell on its face. It did much better than the 3.25" that I ran as the daily driver pulley. With the 3.25", it was still a 13.2 car. Many L67 and L32 cars with the M90 are running 2.8" or even smaller. To go smaller than 2.8", the snout needs to be machined to accomodate the pulley if I recall. I wouldn't run less than a 3.0" without an intercooler or meth. I ran a 12.94 wth my setup in my 99 GTX. The bonne is heavier, I think high 11's is high expecations.
  17. Only time can heal most wounds however when they are of this magnitude, scars can be carried forever. Although I was never married, I dated a woman for 5yrs and when we split, well, lets just say that it still hurts years later and I can honestly say I still love a part of her and probably always will. For the first couple of years, I would have taken her back in a heart beat. But over time, I have come to realize some things about our relationship that was not for the best for either of us. At this point, I certainly would not go back to her, but I still know I have feelings for her. I've moved on with a wonderful woman whom I am set to marry this October. As for the single/mingle thing, you are right. It does not help. Friends would try to take me out to the bars and to strip clubs, but I only thought of her and did not enjoy myself. True friends passing the time and keeping myself occupied with activities like fishing, work, and biking were the only things that seemed to help at all.
  18. Shampoo and febreeze. I forget the brand, but I used some auto carpet scrubber on my truck when the trans guys smoked in the shop while working on it and got the interior all smokey. I think it was turtle wax carpet scrubber.
  19. Just make sure the front diff has been serviced and if possible, check it out yourself. My GM engineering buddy who has a bravada said those awd front diffs are about the only trouble spot on those vehicles, imagine that, a GM with front diff issues Let us know what happens. I'm looking at 60k miler Rainier in black up here in Detroit for about $13k with the 5.3L. Then its LS1 car shopping time for me.
  20. I dont think he can find a Colorado or Canyon in his price range in a 4x4 crew, even with high mileage. He's trying to keep it under $10k and the cheapest crew cabs I have found in the Colorado is around $13-14k, some with 90k miles on them or more. Plus, those have the anemic I5 in them, not the best for towing. Would they tow his jet ski etc? Sure, but the 4.2L I6 is a much better motor and there is more room in the back of the 360 series vehicles (TB, Envoy, etc) than the Colorado.
  21. That is a steal. I would jump on that price quickly provided the vehicle checks well. I wish I could find one with those miles for that price in the Detroit area. That price is tagged to 115k+ vehicles up here. Also, I have seen many Envoy SLT's and Trailblazer LTZ's with under 100k miles for around $10k up here in the Detroit area, especially on craigslist. The regional markets are funny sometimes like that.
  22. Welcome. I'm from Waterford, MI. There are a handful of guys from the Detroit area.
  23. Yeah, thats the one. Looking back on his posts, he was having bad luck with 4L80E's, not 4L65E's. I just remembered reading about a 408 with a maggie and thought of instant trans death from ungodly amounts of low end torque. Didn't see it posted for sale, rarely head into the for sale section.
  24. I think I remember that guy on here a while back. He couldn't keep his 4L65E together beyond 3-5k miles when he slapped the maggie on that 408. Maybe its not the same guy, but I could swear I remember the truck. Nice truck, but I agree, price is high. I could see $20k justified possibly with the amount of work done.
