  1. I forgot to mention.........the individual I met is a forum member.
  2. Guess I'm unlucky. Adding the same shim kit ( 2 degrees ) did not fix my vibration.
  3. I have the stock exhaust off my 07 SSS. It was cut just before the muffler. So from the muffler back is one piece. I also have the pieces from the muffler to the flange. Do not wish to ship, so looking for interest in S. Florida. Make me an offer.
  4. Well, the tie rod was put back on. Balance and alignment done. I also had the shims put in to fix the vibration (pinion angle), but it's still there. Was told I may need more agressive shims. Overall, I'm happy with the work done by the dealer. I can tell that their alignment is far better than that which was done by the fools that installed the drop spindles: http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=26988 I will be going to those same fools this week to claim expenses incurred as a result of their inabilty to install the drop spindles correctly. If they give me any beef, I'm going to take them to small claims court. In addition to being happy with the dealers work, I think I made a great contact with the owner of the dealership who happens to have a kick ass SSS. It's much easier to deal with someone who knows exactly what you like and where you want to go with your truck. They also have a dyno, and I'm looking foraward to getting a dyno tune instead of a mail order tune. If there are any other S. Florida SSS's that want a reference, please PM me. You won't be dissappointed.
  5. Now THAT makes sense! The new tie-rod was supposed to come in today, but didn't. I check with the dealer tomorrow. Thanks.
  6. No, just trying to solve a mystery. Not sure if you read my other post, but my tie-rod came un-done with I was driving. It's pretty safe to say that it was installer error ( the shop that installed the Belltech spindles ). But I was curious to know, cause I don't believe the spindles come with new nuts. So that means that it is assumed that you're going to have to use the OEM nuts. But, if they are the plastic insert kind, then they can't be re-used. In this case, the installer should have enough gray matter to figure that he's gonna have to find some new nuts.

    Tie-rods

Can anyone tell me what type of nuts are used on the stock tie-rods? Are they the plastic insert nuts that can only be used once? or are they the crimp style that can be re-used? Thanks.
  8. Just spoke to Belltech. It was defintely installer error. He said the installer probably put on the nuts for both tie rods "finger tight". Then came back to tighten with the inpact driver, but forgot to tighten one side. Apparently it took 3 weeks for that nut to back itself off.
  9. You are correct. It was the tie rod. We'll see what the dealer says today. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> they will say warrenty VOID...... had 2 trucks this summer that had lift kits installed that the brake callapers were falling off. one was a 05 and one a 06 GM. towed them to a dealer for warrenty work on their road side assistence and dealer charged them for repairs, and voided the suspension warrenty. yea it sucks good luck <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm not concerned with having to pay to have it fixed. I feel good about the dealer I chose to work on my truck and I know they'll get it right. What I'm more interested in is finding out how it happened. So far, the dealer has ordered a replacement tie-rod and will have everything re-aligned the right way, something the original installer of the drop kit failed to do. They will also install the shims to remedy the pinion angle issue. Preliminary reports indicate either a "bolt failure" or "installer error" in tightening the bolt. I don't think there's any way to tell for sure. I would like to go back to the original installer and reem him a new assh@le, but I don't want to lay into him if it was a "bolt failure". I mean, how often does a bolt fail??? At any rate, I should have my truck back by Friday afternoon.
  10. You are correct. It was the tie rod. We'll see what the dealer says today.
  11. Trust me, I will. I just want to wait for the dealer to explain to me how something like this could have happened before I go back to the shop that installed the spindles.
  12. So I just had one of the scariest moments of my life. So I'm coming back to Miami from West Palm Beach, traveling at about 60mph on I-95and all of a sudden the truck starts shaking violently. I mean, it took extreme concentration to keep her under control. I didn't want to apply too much pressure to the brakes for fear of loosing control. I felt like it was coming from the rear. If felt like all 4 wheels were going to come off. I pulled over to the side of the road and got out to take a look. I focused on looking at the rear because that's where I thought the shaking was coming from. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. I got back in the truck and started to roll forward. After I got back up to like 30mph, the same thing happened. So I proceed to use the Onstar roadside assistance. After getting all of that set up I made a few calls to friends to see what they thought. Then I called the shop where I bought the drop kit and spoke to my sales rep. He thought it might be the rear diff, as he's heard about alot of poblems with them. Something about a compnay called Ameircan Axle, and their product being probelmatic. So now, in my head I think its the diffrential. Now I'm cursing GM up and down. When the tow truck driver finally gets there 3 1/2 hours later, we realize that its the front end. The control arm (?) that connects to the front passenger side spindle came loose. We found this out as he was pulling her up on the flat bed and the passenger side wheel was not turning (or actually turning on it's own). After looking underneath, we realize what the problem was. He said I was lucky to be alive. At that speed, for that to come un-done could have been fatal. How could this have happened????? Did the shop that installed by Belltech spindles have done a shitty job and not tightened something right??? It's been like 3 weeks since I installed them. I had the truck towed 62 miles to a Chevy dealership. Paid $160. (Onstar only covers until the first available Chevy dealership, and I didn't want to leave her so far away from home at an unknown dealer). Has anyone ever experienced this???
  13. My shims just arrived. Hoping to get it done during the week. Glad to hear it solves the vibration issue.
  14. So the hangers will get me the additional 1.5"??? Will this affect my towing capacity?
  15. I installed the Belltech 2" spindles and 2" shackles. I would like to drop it another 1.5" in the back. I would like it to be more level. How can I achieve this without compromising towing capacity for a 3500# boat and trailer?
  16. Does adding the shims change drop height?
  17. So you're saying it's a defect with the entire cluster? So if I took it back to the dealer and had them replace it, I could still encounter it with the replacement, correct? Did you order a new cluster?
  18. I have this vibration now too. What shims did you get?
  19. Anyone going tonight?
