  1. Your post said "thread" not "tread" I'd say 90% tread life left... hes hardly put any miles on them since he got them.
  2. I had 305/40/22 Toyo Proxes on the red truck and thought they were a great tire, I'd definitely buy them again, but I am in love with the BFG G-Force TA's... if they weren't so damnd soft I'd go with them in a heartbeat. Sexy tires IMO.
  3. There are grades of clay... and while the color coding isn't constant, its pretty close. Most medium grade clays are purple or blue in color... these are intended for removal of HEAVY contaminants (rail dust & paint over spray) and oxidation... I only recommend the use of this type if you intend to buff out your paint afterwards or if it is your first time claying. Fine clays are usually a white color and while they won't do as much surface cleaning as the purple bars they are good for your average contamination. Use a white bar on paint that is properly maintained and you won't see micro scratches like you would with a purple bar. In between the two are the yellows (mothers ca gold, DER, meguiars, etc.) these are a balance of the 2 others. Mr. P... an alternative to claying is using a cleaner wax, like DER Tuff Stuff, or Adams Revive polish. These are non abbrasive and will take down minor surface contaminations. I use these in 2 scenarios: 1) after a purple clay bar on badly contaminated paint to ensure its all completely clean 2) if paint is not in need of clay, but I'll be applying a fresh coat of protection. As for "driving contaminants deeper into the paint" I don't believe thats likely.... especially with GM paint. The paint on GM rides tends to be pretty hard in comparison to say Porsche or newer BMW's, if you were to use a mild (white) pad on the PC with a cleaner wax, or mild polish, you'd be much more likely to cut down the contaminants than "drive them in" My suggestion is to either get a good cleaner wax into your regiment between clay sessions or invest in some fine grade clay. Also make sure you're not using your clay too much... the bars are only good for so many uses, once they've picked up enough stuff they might as well be a sanding block.
  4. Just got done talking to my brother, since he'll be starting his new job and commuting soon hes taken the 26's off of the Avy and is looking to unload them CHEAP!! I know 26's won't be a popular choice for the go fast crowd here, but I think they're a perfect fit for the NNBS Avys, Tahoes, and Trucks if you have one or know someone who does. Wheels are 26x10 (chrome) on Kumho tires, GM tpms sensors already installed, fully balanced and ready to go. Very low miles on them, no curb damage or dings. If anyone is interested LMK. $4000 obo LOCAL PICKUP PREFERRED b/c these things will be a bitch and a half to ship.
  5. If you're going with DER you'll want DER Real Stuff (red bottle) and DER Shiney Stuff (blue bottle) The red is a polish/cleaner/wax and the blue is a sealant/glaze, so after you clay 1 pass with red and then 1 (or more) coats of blue and you're done. If you don't go that route look into Optimum products, they have great polishes and you can finish off with Optiseal which so far has been one of the best products I've tried, very easy to use and the protection lasts a long time. If you'll be using a DA polisher theres nothing better (IMO) than Adams Polishes Fine Machine Polish followed up with their Machine Super Wax... the stuffs a little temperamental and may require a follow up wipe down with a mf cloth about 8-12 hours after application, but the end results are AMAZING.
  6. Dammit!! I knew there was something wrong... now I need to think long and hard about how I don't want sloppy seconds
  7. I must be doing something wrong b/c no matter how much time I concentrate on getting it on with Kate Beckinsale she never shows up at my house... my 'secret' must be broken or in need of a tune up.
  8. So did they ship yet? Soooo excited to get mine in!!
  9. If you concentrate very hard, envision yourself going to the local blockbuster video, picture opening your wallet and paying for a 5 day rental, then it can become true.

Those things are beasts right off the factory floor.
  11. what kind of polishing are we talking? Like they're dull and discolored and need to be brought back to life or they raw right now and need to be polished for the first time?
  12. in order to run the double sided pads you will need to get the QC adapter http://www.adamspolishes.com/p-53-german-2...ds-adapter.aspx The DVD included with that package is pretty good at explaining the basics. Don't worry about damaging anything... a little common sense and taking your time will keep you from doing any real damage.
  13. OH... yeah... they might carry the PC there... just make sure that you get it at a good enough price to justify buying the pads, backing plates, adapters, etc seperately.
  14. I have never seen detailing pads sold at home depot, you might look into what they are selling. Anyways, pads can be used for a good amount of time if you clean/maintain them after every use. I am partial to the german durafoam pads (Adams or Edge products sell these) specifically Adams b/c they're 2 sided and can be used with a quick change adapter. Makes switching pads easy, never have to worry about centering, and the back side is foam, not a plastic plate, so theres no potential for accidentally damaging something if the back comes into contact with the bottom of your mirror or something. Lake pads are the most popular and easiest to find so they're worth a look too, but they are one sided, and use a backing plate.
  15. My opinion, take it for what its worth: Self help book/movies and motivational shit like this is a crock. If you need a book or a movie to tell you how to be happy, successful, get the girl, or just generally be motivated then your in pretty sad shape. Life itself and its relatively short span of time should be all the motivation you need to get off your ass and make something of yourself. I haven't needed a book, movie, or guru to get me where I am today... I'm happy, fulfilled, and continually striving to improve myself, my life, my situation. I'm not out to line someone else's pockets by purchasing some gimmicky book or movie. Again, no offense, if it works for you great. Stuff like this just seems like an enormous waste of time to me.
  16. Theres a ton of ways to go about getting a PC, depends on what you want to do... You can buy the PC by itself from a place like toolup.com pretty cheap and then buy the pads, plates, and supplies seperately. This can kind of suck b/c you'll be ordering from multiple places but it MIGHT save you money... you'll have to do the math. Alternately you can buy a package deal from any number of detail places. http://www.adamspolishes.com/p-82-porter-c...d-included.aspx http://www.detailcity.com/porter-cable-lak...ishing-kit.html
  17. Because of the tweaks and touchup PS wouldn't let me save as a jpeg so it was either PNG or TIFF... it may not be reality, but I swear tiff files always look funny to me. And supposedly PNG is better... but I couldn't tell if there was a difference... I still have the NEF raw file to work from so if PNG isn't good for the calender then I can regenerate it in another format.
  18. No problem bro... sorry for the delay. Its a big file (png format around 20mb), but mediafire was all jacked up thats why it took so long. Dimensions are 2817pixels x 1768 pixels. BIG PICTURE!!
  19. I looked at that link and it sounds like a lot of BS to sell wax... luckily the color of your truck hides swirls and scratches pretty well so it won't impact you, but that stuff really isn't that great of a product. Words of advice when selecting detail products: If it eliminates a bunch of steps, its probably eliminating a bunch of shine quality, protection, and other properties you'd want. Theres a reason the best results are achieved with a multi step process. But really, in the end... what counts is you think it looks good... if you're happy then more power to ya. Actually thats a internet dish (Hughesnet or WildBlue) and their dishes are huge... that is a 2 way setup with a microwave transmitter. Sure they do: http://autopia.org/forum/click-brag/92440-...x-concorso.html http://autopia.org/forum/click-brag/96926-...percup-car.html I just don't think they need different wax, it ain't like 'race wax' has a lower drag coefficient than regular waxes. If waxes helped race cars I could make a ****ing killing at Fontana whenever chase runs... "DUDE!! Put more wax on so I can shave another 10th off!!" Hell... if that worked and wax = race I'd have a sub 10 second TBSS
  20. Well, I'll start by saying that Zaino products are pretty good across the board... I have yet to see a product of theres that wasn't good at what it was intended to do. Thats not to say they're all the best in a given category, but they'll always be good. Now...the product itself, how do you intend to use this?? Are you going to be applying with a DA polisher?? By hand I think this stuff would just make a mess of your paint... you'd need the consistent speed and pattern of a polisher to effectively use it. B/C its an abrasive you'll be actually cutting the clear down so its something you'd use maybe 1-2 times per year ideally. Essentially this is a polishing compound with a cleaner wax built in so treat it as such...
  21. Yeah, but didn't you have to pay for minutes thru onstar then too?? At least thats how I thought it worked unless you have a CDMA phone carrier that can be married to an onstar account.
  22. Not sure I've ever seen anything that will allow this type of function on a stock radio, but aftermarket options are out there. For example you can go with an Alpine IVAW205 and add the bluetooth adapter, essentially getting you the same functionality, and with the right adapters you'll maintain your onstar function, door chimes, steering wheel controls, etc. IVAW205 - http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/p...?model=IVA-W205 KCE-300BT - http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/p...300BT&tab=D
  23. Paypal sent this morning... LMK if theres anything weird about it... Paypal was lagging majorly this morning while I was trying to update my card info, but I'm pretty sure it went thru.
