  1. Throw them away? Why? You could easily clean them, even if they're cheapies its worth the couple of bucks to spend a moment cleaning them.
  2. Toss them out and get some MF applicators IMO. http://www.adamspolishes.com/p-94-six-micr...cator-pads.aspx You definitely should clean your pads after every use. As JF03SS mentioned, spray them with your preferred APC (simple green or whatever) fold the pad and rub it against itself to aggitate the surface, rinse thoroughly with water, squeeze it out, air dry.
  3. I really really really want a sierra denali... in white to be specific... very nice trucks.
  4. am I the only one thinking this would be a badass replacement color for arrival blue on the next generation of SSS's??
  5. Chase - I zipped the files up but for whatever reason Mediafire was having problems last night... I'll try again and send you the link. Everyone else, thanks for the compliments on my detailing. The paint is by no means perfect, the guy who owned this before chase didn't necessarily take the best care of the tonneau or the hood, but it looks a hell of a lot better with some TLC.
  6. Nikon D70 DSLR w/ an 18-200mm Nikkor VR lens You are correct sir. The only option he didn't order I believe, b/c he was going to immediately put the borla cat back on there was no point in having them. In the end he netted far more than 6hp w/ the borla anyways.
  7. New color for 2008, my dad just picked it up and I've got to say I like it a lot more in person than I thought I would. The paint has a lot of flake and some really cool characteristics in different light... definitely a 'must see in person' kind of paint. Only snapped a few quick pics, I'll be detailing it next weekend to get it started off right. He just brought it by to have me remove the GM badges from the rear quarter panels. He special ordered the Ron Fellows ZO6 style spoiler and the wheels which he had chromed before the car showed up. Windows were tinted today along with a borla catback installed. Chevy really did a nice job of refining these, the interior from his 06 to this one is improved IMO, nice carbon fiber pieces and they worked out some of the parts that felt 'cheap' in the last one. The LS3 sounds nice and healthy. :woohoo:
  8. Hell if I know, but if you weren't around a while ago, we had the same thing happen here.
  9. Thanks... I get a chuckle each time I see it. Its the result of a blowup over on TBSS.com... some guys were having a hissy fit about the booty sig... reminded me of good old Lee and his puritanical crusade to rid sss.com of booty sigs, now I'm pretty sure theres more booty sigs than non-booty sigs... what a trend I started
  10. Oh... Ok... yeah... if its only $12 add it to my order.
  11. DOOOD!! Chase... you shoulda called me bro... I would've gladly found you and helped push that bish home for you.
  12. Yeah... just working with what I had... wish the original location would've worked... it was PERFECT.
  13. Truck needed a touchup from the last time I saw it. Afterwards we shot some pictures, approximately 70 shots total, I haven't finished tweaking them all yet, but heres the ones I've cropped and quick edited so far... lighting was really cool for shooting his truck... overcast almost all day, we shot around 5:00 so the sun was on its way down, the way it filtered thru the clouds made for some really tricky shooting, but I think the flames REALLY popped thanks to it. Sux, but we had a prime location scouted out for the pics origianlly, but a ****ing dickhead security gaurd wouldn't let us take pics PROCESS: Wheels/tires/fenders cleaned with SG dilluted mixture and assorted brushes Dressed tires with Adams VRT Rims just were wiped down (already coated with REJEX) Inner fenders dressed w/ Adams Invisible Undercarriage Spray Washed with Optimum Car Wash concentrate via foam gun (blue metering tip) Dried with MF WW drying towel + QD spray Clayed (areas that needed it) with Adams Purple Clay + QD spray 1 pass with DER Tuff stuff on a white pad 1 pass in problem areas with Adams S&HR + Revive mixture on green pad 1 pass Adams Fine machine Polish on a white pad Topped off with DER Shiney Stuff applied by hand w/ MF "camel toe" applicator (more about my new favorite applicators later) Buffed off with Adams Premium MF polishing cloth Results:
  14. Haven't personally used it, but a number of guys on autopia swear by the stuff.
  15. I was thinking of installing it where the SS hole plug is to the left of the stereo, just above the rear wiper controls... I've seen other TBSS run a boost gauge in this spot without any cutting. Where do you guys normally install these?
  16. Thats a pretty broad question, really depends on what shape the interior is in. Obviously always start with a vaccum, getting all the crap out of the cracks of the seats and off the floor is priority one. Evaluate what you're dealing with. Pull out any floor mats and set them somewhere in the sun... the warmth will cause the rubber backing to soften and make them lie flat. This makes extraction or carpet cleaning much easier to do. Pull all rubber inserts out of the cup holders, use APC to clean any spills. For rubber/plastic/vinyl cleaning I use a terry cloth towel and highly dilluted APC... this is ONLY if there are areas that have dirt, oil, grime on them. If you have just dust then skip to the next part. BRUSHES!! BRUSHES!! BRUSHES!! You should have a set of good interior brushes. Autozone sells a set by Black Magic (3 brushes) that are awesome little tools for cheap. Use brushes to get dust and debris out of any corners, cracks and crevices. Use a MF towel to get any remaining dust on large flat panels. Dress surfaces appropriately. A water based dressing for your vinyl, rubber, and plastic. A conditioning treatment/protectant for your leather. Stained carpets and cloth are a PITA. Spend $100 and get a Bissel Little Green Machine. This will allow you to get damn near any stains out.... if not that then a good lifting action carpet cleaner aresol will work. I like Blue Magic carpet spray w/ a carpet brush for mildly soiled carpets followed by blotting with a towel and finish w/ a vaccum.
  17. You are correct sir. Short answer: A polishing compound and a buffer... aggressiveness of the pad to be used and the compound are determined by testing a small spot on the car until you find the combo that will take the clear down far enough to get rid of the defects... this often times will take multiple passes to get right.
  18. Count me in... that is if you guys don't mind an SUV in the mix
  19. I don't mean to come off like an **** or anything. I'm always willing to help where I can, but I'm getting inundated with PMs and emails requesting one-on-one advice about products, techniques, and prices for detailing. If you have a question about detailing post it in the forums, that way if anyone else has the same question I don't end up answering it over and over and over and over again. Like I said, I'm willing to help, but it would make much more sense to have answers to questions in the forums where they are accessible by all members and able to be searched down the line if someone needs answers. In most cases there are other members besides myself that can contribute valuable information to the answer as well... I may be good at what I do, but I am by no means perfect and theres always other unique information others can contribute as well. Secondly, I am continually flattered that so many of you like my work and want me to detail your trucks, but please don't contact me just to find out what I'm charging with no real intention of ever having me do the work... especially people who claim they'll make a 5+ hour drive from another state to have me wash their truck... thats just silly... it'd be a mess by the time you got it back home again. I really do appreciate it, I take each and every comment/inquiry to heart, but at the end of the day... I don't like getting stroked. Thanks for understanding guys.
  20. I'm at 0%... mainly b/c the mods fear me and the unholy reign of shit I can reap upon this board.... that or maybe I just don't get into trouble... it could be either.
  21. 2002 ss... I think your posts are giving me a brain tumor.
  22. I think a PM would've been a more effective way to go... but anyways... Shoot me an email ([email protected]) and we'll talk about it. I need to know mostly what you want done, paint correction, interior cleaning, engine bay, etc. Also, if you have factory paint. I'm located in Rancho Cucamonga (91730) where are you located?
  23. You can only see yours.... the moderators can see everyones... its a way for moderators to keep track of your behavior and so you can know where you stand as far as being banned or somthing.
  24. Don't know much about it, but just from reading the description its nothing more than a filler... stuff like that really doesn't work b/c it deteriorates. What are you looking to correct? Deep scratches?
