  1. naw... I do enjoy it, but I don't do it for free... I have a cash fetish Whats up man!! Long time no see... definitely hit me up whenever you get that thing road worthy again... I've got TONS of experience working on vic red and I've gotten even better at correction since I had my red truck so it'll look awesome if you let me take a crack at it.
  2. For those that don't know what a foam gun is, its an attachment for your hose or pressure washer that is purpose built to use concentrated car soaps. It basically shoots a 20' stream of dense foam onto your truck. Why would someone want this? Simple... the soap encapsulates deposits/dirt/debris and protects the paint. You follow up with a SAFE mit (sheep skin or MF) and greatly reduce your chances of introducing new swirls to your paint... Not to mention its just damn fun to use and saves me a ton of time!! I didn't get any action shots b/c... well... I was holding the foam gun so my hands were full. Couple of shots of the foam shortly after it was sprayed on: Heres an action shot to give you an idea... and again... its fun and serves a purpose FWIW this was also my first time using Optimums Car Wash Concentrate and I was very impressed... great foaming even without the gun, high level of lubricity. Very good car wash soap for anyone who is looking. Now on to the cleaned up shots... this is with nothing other than a wash/dry/dressings. Last detail I did on the TBSS was a month ago with Adams Fine Machine Polish and Machine Super Wax... gloss and depth have remained after a couple of washes. Great products for anyone with a black vehicle. And lastly my new badge overlays... black will be a reoccurring theme in my future mods as well MMMMM... look at all that fabulous factory orange peel
  3. You can use pretty much any paint... hi temp stuff is for things like the block, headers, or anywhere thats going to GENERATE heat. The covers don't get hot enough to worry about using special paint.
  4. what do you know about grafiti... you live in Canada for cryin' out loud
  5. I hadn't actually thought of that, but I don't think it'd really be possible... the frame hangs so low on these things I don't think there'd be anywhere to get the pipe out to the sides. The thought had crossed my mind... I was at the exhaust shop just a couple of weeks ago... we put it up on the lift and were trying to figure out a way to route the pipes to make it happen... duals on this thing are gonna be a PITA b/c there aint shit for clearance and you gotta keep enough distance from the air ride in the rear when you pass over the axle so you don't melt a bag. I might just keep a single pipe from the cat back to the spare tire area, mount a single in dual out magnaflow sideways where the spare used to be and either go out the tow hitch area or cut the bumper up and do these tips on either side. Heres the stock rear end for reference... if I go dual center exit I'll lose the hitch (no biggie) and have to have the factory bumper cut filled in. If I go out of the stock location all I have to do is cut the opening to a squarish opening and cut a new hole on the opposing side.
  6. speakin of which... anyone wanna try and find me the part#'s for the Equinox Sport exhuast tips... I just got an idea
  7. Its weird b/c I tried building one on chevy.com and there was never an option for a "sport" package?? Strange.
  8. welp... the value of arrival blue trucks just went up a tick.
  9. Yeah... unfortunately theres not much correction to be done by hand in most cases... the human body doesn't have the ability to move in the way or at the speed of a machine and you need that speed and consistency to effectively work a polish and get rid of swirls. If you're not interested in taking it on yourself just sign up on Autopia.org and put up a request for a detailer in your area. There are TONS of talented individuals on that site who detail professionally that would have no problem getting you the results you're looking for. Also, Zaino isn't exactly the most effective scratch/swirl removing product out there... to be honest its not designed for that... its protective and shine qualities are awesome, but it needs a clear surface to work on and it won't polish a surface as well as the Poorboys SSR line, Adams S&HR, or Mezerna... especially w/o a machine. Good luck to you... maybe someday if I'm filthy rich I'll open a mobile detailing business that works out of a G4 jet or something
  10. No ****ing way!! I didn't think they released those for production!! My buddy just bought his wife an Equinox and said he wanted the SS version, but as far as I could tell it was only a concept. Personally I think the equinox is a nice little SUV... I've ridden in his wifes and was very impressed. For a 'cute ute' vehicle its definitely well put together and very well designed IMO.
  11. I work the swing shift 4pm to midnight... it can be an adjustment... like Alex said, stay busy, drink cold water (keeps your body working and awake) and caffine is your friend.
  12. The simple way to do it is use Krylon Fusion paint... specifically for plastics it doesn't require you to use any adhesion promoters, or do anything to the surface other than clean it before using. Thats what I used on my engine covers and it came out awesome...held up to the heat well too. Obviously its not going to be flawlessly smooth unless you sand and smooth the plastic first, but for engine covers I think it looks good: Or... you could always ship em off to a professional (Like Elite Autowerks) and have them do a paint job on your engine cover thats probably better quality than the paint on the rest of your truck
  13. Congrats. BTW... I'm almost to 4 years
  14. Hes way too good looking to be related to you good to see you on the forums matt... truck looks good buddy.
  15. welp... all that work and you're still an enormous douche
  16. needs to include a couple hundred replacement transmissions IMO.
  17. The actual concept 427SS still belongs to GM and isn't for sale as its still making rounds to different shows and events. I'd be willing to bet the auction was a scam.
  18. air compressor or leaf blower after you wash will blow all that stuff out... I always use my air compressor after washing to get water out of places like that. also keep a small bottle of your preferred QD spray and a nice MF polishing towel in the truck to clean it off.
  19. Yep... also helpful to use in a washboard type action to get the grit off the mit each time it goes into the bucket and the bottom of it is "finned" which keeps the grit from coming back to the surface via turbulence when you insert your mit into the bucket. They sell for $10 thru a number of detail places... cheap investment in keeping you paint as swirl free as possible. I use one in each of the 2 buckets for double protection. As a matter of fact you can get them thru this guy: http://www.glimmerglassdetailing.com/gritguard.html
  20. and this is why the 2 bucket method and grit guards are so damn important... can't wait to get the foam gun I ordered and try it out. This is the rinse bucket... I stirred it up a little just to show how much junk ends up in your water after washing... GRIT GUARDS FTMFW!! Bonus of the day was a dude rollin by with a fairly new 500 benz... stopped and started asking me some detailing questions. He parked and came in the garage... watched a few minutes of me getting the swirls out of the fenders and it blew his mind... decided he needed me to take care of his car!! *cha-ching* I'll be doing a full detail of it on the 22nd.
  21. Thanks man! I love how a complete DER process really makes the metallic pop on this paint... by far my favorite treatment for this color... I am contemplating adding a layer of Adams MSW or Buttery wax before the Sealer just for some more depth next time I detail this color.
  22. No before shots this time guys (sorry) you'll just have to take my word for it... it was shitty. 06 'hoe... 17k miles... waxed 2 times since new... not garaged... car wash visitor every couple of weeks. Weather was good as far as temps but theres a thunderstorm rolling into San Diego and I think the edge was making its way up here b/c I was contending with bad light all day... even rained for a couple of minutes. Did the best I could with the pics, but the sun kept ducking behind the clouds. Process: Adams car wash soap, 2 bucket method w/ grit guards, sheep skin mitMisted w/ Adams QD spray, dried w/ white waffle weave MF drying towels Clayed with Adams purple clay 1 pass w/ DER Tuff Stuff on Green Durafoam pad 1 pass w/ DER Real Stuff on White Durafoam pad Topped off with 2 coats of DER Shiney applied by hand Wheels & bumpers polished by hand with REJEX Adams VRT on all trim Adams Invisible Undercarriage spray inside fenders NOT SHOWN -Complete engine and interior detail Adams Invisible Undercarriage Spray is ****ing phenomenal IMO :worship:I more pics coming....
  23. Welp... the guys over on TBSS.com came thru... heres the backstory and some more pics, sadly not even a thought of 2dr TBSS's going into production
