  1. I read through the whole post saying to myself "alcohol, try alcohol, why doesn't anyone know about alcohol?"
  2. I would check the MAF for oil/dirt since you have an intake, also check for vacuum lines that may have worked loose. Also, if you're already at a stop (in drive), release and press the brake several times in a row. If it dies just from that, you may have a bad vacuum booster diaphram. The sea foam cleaner is good stuff, but usually only cures rough idle, not a complete stall from simply coming to a stop. I'd say you've got something a little more serious going on here that you'll have to do some more diagnosing to check it out.
  3. Symantec that I get free through work (since my home laptop needs to get on their network from time to time when I'm on call). Never have a problem here or there as long as you shut down real time scans and schedule full scans off hours. I also love the Spybot for getting the spyware programs...
  4. Or for E85 prices, go here http://e85prices.com/
  5. Wow, that's a great time, and a surprizingly simple configuration to make that much power. Now go get more vids!!!
  6. What's up with the teeny tiny pics? Show that black SOB off man!
  7. By the way, just to convey how I feel about our pets, I thought I'd share the words I put on a sign that I hang in our house every time we have a party... It reads: "Do NOT let my pets outside. To you they may just be little annoying animals, but to me they are a son or daughter, and rank higher on the evolutionary ladder than YOU DO!"
  8. I didn't get a chance to reply to your first thread about Oscar, so sorry to hear. When they go quickly it's harder to say goodbye, but at least they don't have to suffer for a long time. Just keep your chin up, and be sure to rescue another deserving pup from your local shelter as soon as you're able to. Good luck Brad!
  9. How the heck do you drain the converter without removing it? Doesn't make any sense. A trans flush in itself will not harm the transmission. Flushing it improperly, refilling improperly, or not installing the filter correctly can all lead to early failure and would be my guess as to why anyone's trans would fail directly after a flush (in addition to the trans possibly already being on the way out). To me, an actual "flush" is uneeded with regular filter and fluid changes anyway. If the fluid is dark and/or showing metal flakes, the damage is done and you'll be band-aid fixing it until rebuild time at best.
  10. I don't have one on the SS, but I had one on two of my daily drivers a while back and never had problems with them. One was a '96 S10SS, the other was a '99 Contour, both ran through northern midwest winters just fine. I was down to 80 below in northern Michigan snowmobiling, towing with the S10SS without issue.
  11. I want one of those... actually, I want to have a REASON for one of those... Purdy.
  12. Here's my fillup from yesterday. Gotta love E85!!!
  13. Nice, I like the fact of it being a 200 shot on a stock block/heads. That right there takes some balls, and more importantly - some tuning knowhow. I'm to chicken to hook up the 100 horse shot kit I've had in my garage since I've owned the truck... going on 3 years now. Maybe I'll have to bite the bulllet one of these days. Got any tips on what nozzle or plate to run?
  14. FYI, he had a typo , no c in there. http://www.racetronix.com/ I don't see the 8.1 injectors on that site though. Do you have a direct link??? All I see are other 42's with the wrong connector (would still work with an adapter or new connector).
  15. The stock injectors are set to 24#'s of flow in the stock tune. I don't know the part numbers, but the 8.1 liter marine injectors show up on ebay from time to time. Just don't get the truck 8.1 liter injectors as those are NOT 42# rated, much smaller...
  16. I agree, don't pay collector car price for a driver style car, no matter the condition.
  17. I've been looking into new pickups for my Lace guitar (Huntington). The guitar has good pickups in it already, but they're a bit "bright" for my taste, and tend to get a bit to much noise when overdriven (for tapping, or just rippin it up heavy metal style). Mainly looking into a pre-loaded fret board, like this one here. I just want to know if anyone has used them or played a guitar with these pickups to know if they're everything they are said to be... vintage strat sound, but clean and able to waiil...
  18. I was really close to buying one of the end of year CTS-V's last year. I have a GM credit card and they were going to double my points for me, plus knock off several thousand dollars. It would have been around 38K out the door for a 50K car (full options and custom wheels). I love watching vids of the ones on streetfire.net videos, Caddy's sounding like hotrods with big cams and loud exhaust are just so cool!
  19. Yeah, mine are just the cheap stick on bed rail covers that came with the drop in bed liner I'm pretty sure. If I were to get one myself, I'd go Speedstur for sure, and ditch the rail covers. The stick on crappy rail covers only holds the dirt next to the paint and helps out rust anyway.
  20. There was a guy running pretty dang quick using the ASA cam and other GMPP goodies. I would search for ASA cam on this site and see if you can find it...
  21. I just went through this SAME EXACT NOISE on my recent trans installation. On mine, I crawled under with it running and found that the noise seemed to be coming from the converter/starter area behind the bell housing. I pulled the starter to find slight nick marks on the edge of the aluminum area near the gear teeth. It seemed to be cocked just enough to touch the converter bolts as they came by, and/or the edge of some of the teeth, or maybe a balance weight on the flywheel?. I simply reinstalled the starter while making sure the starter stayed "straight" as it was tightened. Noise hasn't come back...
  22. No, it just cocks off to one side sometimes because of the thick weather stripping and crappy hinges. Not sure what brand it is as the cap was installed before I owned it. If you buy a lid, get one with a piano style hinge, not cabinet door style hinges... I also have actuators to open/close it via my alarm remote, so it's adjusted quite tight in the back to keep someone from opening the tailgate.
  23. Shouldn't be to hard. Heck, we had quite a few people show up for our Iowa meet at Chris's house last time and KC area has a LOT more people than central Iowa does!!!
  24. You bet. Now I just have to prioritize murding things out, getting things painted/repainted, and doing the L92 stuff that's been sitting in the corner for the last year.
  25. Nice. Are you going to document the HP/TQ results after the install? 1/4 mile, dyno, or at least a G-tech?
